Fluid Coupling (Straight) - Rear Drive Unit (Remove and Replace)
Correction code 40014202 2.16 NOTE: Unless otherwise explicitly stated in the procedure, the above correction code and FRT reflect all of the work required to perform this procedure, including the linked procedures. Do not stack correction codes unless explicitly told to do so.NOTE: See Flat Rate Times to learn more about FRTs and how they are created. To provide feedback on FRT values, email LaborTimeFeedback@tesla.com. NOTE: See Personal Protection to make sure wearing proper PPE when performing the below procedure.
- 2024-03-12: Moved the coolant leak test step before the LH mount installation step.

Remove
- Remove the LH rear drive unit mount. See Mount - Rear Drive Unit - LH (3DU) (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the bolt that attaches the straight fluid coupling to the rear drive unit inverter.
- Remove the straight fluid coupling.
Install
-
Lubricate the straight fluid
coupling O-ring with coolant.
CAUTIONDo not install the fluid coupling with the O-ring dry.
-
Install the straight fluid
coupling to the rear drive unit inverter, and then install a new bolt to
attach the coupling to the inverter.
- Perform an inverter coolant leak test. See Inverter Coolant Leak Test.
- Install the LH rear drive unit mount. See Mount - Rear Drive Unit - LH (3DU) (Remove and Replace).
- Refill the coolant. See Powertrain Coolant (Drain and Refill).
- Refer to the Alignment Requirement tables to determine whether an EPAS alignment check (EC) or four wheel alignment check (AC) is necessary. If performed, add the alignment check/adjust as a separate activity. See Alignment Requirement - Suspension.
