Make sure 12V/LV power has been disconnected for at least 1 minute before disconnecting the electrical harness from Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) components, such as Restraint Control Module, sensors, airbags, etc. Failure to do so can result in unintended safety system behaviors. While performing any Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) related repairs, it is important to disconnect 12V/LV power. If the vehicle’s 12V/LV power is NOT disconnected and the Restraint Control Module is removed or disturbed, this can result in the deployment of the vehicle’s airbags.

Torque Specifications

Replace

Remove

  1. Remove the center console. See Center Console (Remove and Install).
  2. Disconnect 12V/LV power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).

    Make sure LV is disconnected before continuing to the next step.
  3. Release the locking tabs, and then disconnect the electrical harness from the restraint control module.
  4. Remove and discard the nuts (x3) that attach the restraint control module to the body, and then remove the module from the vehicle.

    • 10 mm socket
    • 2 in extension
    • ¼ in std ratchet
    • ¼ in torque wrench (installation only)

Install

  1. Install the restraint control module to the body, and then install new nuts (x3) to attach the module to the body.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
    • 2 in extension
    • ¼ in std ratchet
    • ¼ in torque wrench (installation only)
  2. Connect the electrical harness to the restraint control module connectors.
  3. Connect 12V power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  4. Install the center console. See Center Console (Remove and Install).
  5. Install the LH and RH center console side panel carpets. See Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  7. Reinstall the vehicle software through the touchscreen. See Software Reinstall - Touchscreen.
  8. Enter Service Mode Plus. See Service Mode Plus
  9. On the touchscreen, touch Service Mode > Safety and Restraints > Airbags > RCM > Post Replacement Tasks.
  10. On the next screen, touch Run, and allow the routine to complete.
  11. On the touchscreen, check the headlight leveling system.
    • If the headlight leveling system is "Ride Height Sensor", exit Service Mode, see Service Mode, and discontinue this procedure.
    • If the headlight leveling system is "Virtual Pitch Sensor", exit Service Mode, see Service Mode, and continue to the next step.
