Switch - Interior Door Release - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace)

    Remove

    1. Open the LH rear door and lower the LH rear window.
    2. Remove the LH rear door puddle light. See Puddle Light - Rear Door - LH (Remove and Replace).
    3. Remove the LH rear door trim panel. See Panel - Door Trim - Rear - LH (Remove and Install).
    4. Release the tabs (x3), and then remove the NVH pad from the LH rear door trim panel.

      Recommend an assistant to hold the door trim.

      Note
      Do not remove the door electrical connector and clips.
    5. Gently pry on the door trim panel to remove the bolt that attaches the interior door release handle switch to the door trim panel.
      6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)

      Note
      Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
      • Torx T20 socket

      CAUTION
      Pry carefully and do not damage the plastic rivets. Damage to the rivets could compromise the integrity of the door trim panel.
    6. Separate the pins (x3) from the electrical connector.

      Separate the pins and plug to ensure that they can pass through the narrow trim panel space.

      Mark the position of pins and the electrical connector.
    7. Apply masking tape around the work area to protect the door trim panel.
    8. Pry open the front portion of interior door handle.

      Make sure there is enough space to remove the interior door release switch.
    9. Release the tabs (x2), and then remove the interior door release switch from the door trim panel.

    Install

    1. Separate the pins (x3) from the electrical connector of new interior door release switch.

      Separate the pins and plug to ensure that they can pass through the narrow trim panel space.

      Note
      Mark the position of pins and the electrical connector.
    2. Fasten the tabs (x2) that attach the interior door release switch onto the door trim panel.
    3. Secure the pins to the electrical connector.

    4. Secure the front portion of the interior door handle onto the door trim panel.
    5. Remove the masking tape from the door trim panel.
    6. Gently pry on the door trim panel to install the bolt that attaches the interior door release handle to the door trim panel.
      6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)
      Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
      • Torx T20 socket

      CAUTION
      Pry carefully and do not damage the plastic rivets. Damage to the rivets could compromise the integrity of the door trim panel.

      Replace the door trim panel if the plastic rivets are damaged during service.
    7. Install the NVH pad onto the rear door trim panel and secure the pad with the tabs (x3).
    8. Install the LH rear door puddle light. See Puddle Light - Rear Door - LH (Remove and Replace).
    9. Install the LH rear door trim panel. See Panel - Door Trim - Rear - LH (Remove and Install).
