Knuckle - Suspension - Rear (Inspect)

  • 1064697-00-B - KIT, BRAKE ROTOR RUN OUT

Procedure

  1. Remove the rear wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  2. Align the flex bar of the brake rotor runout tool parallel to the rear upper aft link, and then turn the switch of the brake rotor runout tool to ON to attach the tool to the brake rotor.
  3. Connect the indicator rod of the brake rotor runout tool to the aft link, and then set the measurement to zero.

    Note
    Make sure the indicator rod is properly depressed to allow travel in both directions without bottoming out.
  4. Insert a flat screwdriver into the brake rotor.
  5. Move the screwdriver backwards and forwards parallel to the aft link to force the rear knuckle to move, and note the values of the digital indicator when the knuckle assembly moves.

    Note
    The maximum allowed play is 1mm. If the play is more than 1mm, replace the upper ball joint of the rear knuckle.
  6. Turn the switch on the brake rotor runout tool to OFF and remove the tool from the brake rotor.
  7. Install the rear wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
