Remove

  1. Raise and support vehicle
  2. Open LH front door
  3. Lower LH front window
  4. Open hood

    Press "Open" button on touchscreen to release latch, Lift lid manually
  5. Remove rear apron

    12x clips, Only store rear apron visible face upwards
  6. Remove cabin intake upper duct assembly

    3x clips, Some configurations may come with 4x clips
  7. Power off vehicle from center display

    Via Controls > Safety > Power Off, Select Power Off button at warning dialogue box
  8. Disconnect 12V negative terminal

    1x nut, 10mm, 6 Nm, Ensure vehicle is in park, climate control system is off, and vehicle is not charging before disconnecting 12V
  9. Disconnect first responder loop

    1x connector, Release locking tab
  10. Raise vehicle fully and lower lift onto locks

    Note
    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side, Verify doors are clear of surrounding objects
  11. Remove outer fasteners securing front aero shield

    9x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm
  12. Remove remaining nuts and remove front aero shield from vehicle

    2x nuts, 15mm, 5 Nm
  13. Remove clips securing RH front wheel liner to vehicle

  14. Use bungee strap to pull back RH front wheel liner

    Note
    Secure to subframe
  15. Position coolant drain container underneath RH front of HV battery
  16. Disconnect PT return tube from FDU bypass hose

    2x clips, 2x plugs, Lower hose located on RH front of HV battery, Plug both hose ends
  17. Remove coolant drain container from underneath vehicle

Install

  1. Release FDU bypass hose from front subframe

    1x fir tree clip
  2. Lower vehicle

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered, Set vehicle to comfortable working height
  3. Position fluid catcher underneath front of vehicle
  4. Disconnect FDU bypass hose from the Supermanifold and remove from vehicle

    1x spring clip, 2x plugs, Plug supermanifold and bypass hose to prevent excess coolant drain
  5. Feed hose into position and install FDU bypass hose to the supermanifold

    1x spring clip, 2x plugs, Install plug onto lower end of hose to avoid coolant loss, Remove plug from Supermanifold, Perform push-pull-push test to make sure hose is fully engaged
  6. Remove fluid catcher from underneath vehicle
  7. Raise vehicle fully and lower lift onto locks

    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side
  8. Secure FDU bypass hose to front subframe

    1x fir tree clip
  9. Position coolant drain container underneath RH front of HV battery
  10. Remove plugs then connect PT return tube to FDU bypass hose

    2x clips, 2x plugs, Perform push-pull-push test to make sure hoses are fully engaged
  11. Remove coolant drain container from underneath vehicle
  12. Release RH front wheel liner from bungee strap

    Remove strap from vehicle
  13. Install clips securing RH front wheel liner to vehicle

    4x clips
  14. Position front aero shield to vehicle and install nuts

    2x nuts, 15mm, 5 Nm
  15. Apply Loctite 222 onto front aero shield bolts and install outer fasteners to front aero shield

    9x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm
  16. Lower vehicle fully

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered
  17. Install frunk assembly to vehicle

    Note
    12x clips, Make sure frunk assembly is fully seated onto clips, Number of clips may vary on older vehicles. Ensure A/C compressor HVIL harness is not pinched between frunk assembly and thermal beam
  18. Install bolts securing frunk assembly

    Note
    7x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm, Lower RBN covers after installing upper fasteners, Newer vehicles may not be equipped with covers
  19. Install frunk close out panel

    4x clips, 1x connector, Frunk safety switch, 3x guide tabs, Align 3x tabs then push downward to secure clips
  20. Remove coolant bottle cap
  21. Inspect coolant level and top off as necessary

    Ensure that fluid level is at Max line
  22. Connect first responder loop

    1x connector, Engage locking tab, Connect FRL before connecting 12V to avoid damage to car computer
  23. Connect 12V negative terminal

    1x nut, 10mm, 6 Nm
  24. Perform the following routine using Service Mode or Toolbox (see 0005 - Service Modes): TEST_VCFRONT_X_THERMAL-COOLANT-AIR-PURGEvia Toolbox: (link)via Service Mode:
    • Thermal ➜ Actions ➜ Coolant Purge Stop or Coolant Purge Start
    • Thermal ➜ Coolant System ➜ Coolant Purge Start
    via Service Mode Plus:
    • Drive Inverter ➜ Front Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge
    • Drive Inverter ➜ Rear Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge
    • Drive Inverter ➜ Rear Left Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge
    • Drive Inverter ➜ Rear Right Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge
    • Drive Unit ➜ Front Drive Unit Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge
    • Drive Unit ➜ Rear Drive Unit Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge

    Note
    Make sure vehicle is not in drive state, Plan is still running despite the stop message, Coolant pumps will be audible, Test lasts approximately 10 mins, Speeds can be monitored in garage under PT Thermal tab, Idle speed = ~1500 RPM, Test will vary speeds from 3500-6500 RPM and actuate valve between SERIES and PARALLEL, Putting vehicle into drive state will stop this routine, If speeds hover at 7000 RPM, that means the pumps are air locked, perform vacuum fill again, Continue to add coolant and purge until the coolant level reaches between the NOM and MAX Lines on the bottle, Select ‘X’ at top right of window to close once complete
  25. Inspect coolant level and top off as necessary

  26. Install coolant bottle cap
  27. Install cabin intake upper duct assembly

  30. Raise LH front window

  32. Remove vehicle from lift

    Lower rack arms fully and remove from under vehicle
