Motor - Seat Height - Driver Seat (Remove and Replace)

Seat base edges are sharp and can cause personal injury. Wear cut resistant gloves when removing the seat from the vehicle, and while performing procedures that involve work on or near the seat base.
  • 2023-05-03: Added step for front passenger seat calibration and OCS calibration.

Remove

  1. Remove the 2nd row lower seat cushion. See Seat Cushion - Lower - 2nd Row (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the LH instrument panel end cap. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the middle A-Pillar trim panel. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the LH lower A-Pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the driver seat. See Seat Assembly - 1st Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  7. Disconnect the electrical harness from the seat height motor connector.
  8. Remove and discard the patchbolt that attaches the seat height motor to the seat cushion frame.
  9. Remove and discard the patchbolt that attaches the seat height motor to the rear RH link, and then remove the motor from the seat.
    Tip: Slide the seat height motor down and out, away from the wiring harness.

Install

  1. Install the seat height motor to the rear RH link, and then install a new patchbolt to attach the motor to the link.
    18 Nm (13.3 lbs-ft)
  2. Install a new patchbolt to attach the seat height motor to the seat cushion frame.
    23 Nm (17.0 lbs-ft)
  3. Connect the electrical harness to the seat height motor connector.
  4. Install the driver seat. See Seat Assembly - 1st Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Install the LH lower A-Pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Install the middle A-Pillar trim panel. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
  7. Install the LH instrument panel end cap. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  9. Install the 2nd row lower seat cushion. See Seat Cushion - Lower - 2nd Row (Remove and Replace).
  10. If servicing the front passenger seat in a North American vehicle:
    1. Remove all objects from the front passenger seat before beginning calibration.
    2. On the vehicle touchscreen, touch Controls (Vehicle Icon) > Software and check the vehicle firmware version. If the vehicle firmware is 2023.2.11 or newer, perform a software reinstall. See Software Reinstall - Touchscreen. If the vehicle firmware is not 2023.2.11 or newer, update the vehicle firmware. See Software Update.
    3. Locally connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
    4. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
    5. In Toolbox, click on the Actions tab, and then search for "OCS".
    6. Run the PROC_OCS1P_SELF-CALIBRATIONvia Toolbox: (link)via Service Mode Plus: Safety & Restraints ➜ Seats ➜ OCS1P Self Capacitance Calibration routine.
    7. Click on the Actions tab, and then search for "Seat calibration".
    8. Run the PROC_VCRIGHT_SEAT-CALIBRATEvia Toolbox: (link) routine.
    9. Disconnect Toolbox and remove the laptop from the vehicle.
  11. Calibrate the driver seat:
    1. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
    2. In Toolbox, click on the Actions/Autodiag tab, and then search for "Calibration".
    3. Click Left Seat Calibration, click Run, and allow the routine to complete.

      CAUTION
      Make sure that nothing is on the seat during the calibration routine.
    4. Disconnect Toolbox and remove the laptop from the vehicle.
