Cover - Lower Spoke - Steering Wheel (Remove and Replace)

3.7 Nm (2.7 lbs-ft)

Reuse

Remove

  1. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  2. Disconnect the LV power. See LV Battery - Li-lon (Disconnect and Connect).
  3. Remove the driver airbag. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the steering wheel. See Steering Wheel (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the airbag bracket bolts (x4) from the steering wheel and collect the springs (x4) underneath the bolts, and then disconnect the connector.

    Note
    There is a spring under each of the 4 bolts; take care and do not lose them.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Cordless 1/4in Dr Ratchet
    • Torx T30 socket
    • 4 in extension
  6. Remove the screws (x2) that attach the lower spoke cover to the front of the steering wheel.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Cordless 1/4in Dr Ratchet
    • Torx T8 bit
    • 4 in extension
  7. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the lower spoke cover to the back of the steering wheel.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Cordless 1/4in Dr Ratchet
    • Torx T20 socket
  8. Remove the harness from the lower spoke cover harness bracket.
  9. Remove the locator clips (x2) that attach the lower spoke cover to the steering wheel, and then remove the cover from the steering wheel.

Install

  1. Position the lower spoke cover to the steering wheel, and then install the locator clips (x2) that attach the lower spoke cover to the steering wheel.
  2. Install the harness to the lower spoke cover harness bracket.
  3. Install the bolts (x4) that attach the lower spoke cover to the back of the steering wheel.
    3.7 Nm (2.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Cordless 1/4in Dr Ratchet
    • Torx T20 socket
  4. Install the screws (x2) that attach the lower spoke cover to the front of the steering wheel.
    1 Nm (.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Cordless 1/4in Dr Ratchet
    • Torx T8 bit
    • 4 in extension
  5. Install the airbag bracket bolts (x4) to the steering wheel, and then connect the connector.
    3.7 Nm (2.7 lbs-ft)

    Before installing the bolts, place the springs on the steering wheel bracket.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Cordless 1/4in Dr Ratchet
    • Torx T30 socket

  6. Install the steering wheel. See Steering Wheel (Remove and Replace).
  7. Install the driver airbag. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  8. Connect the LV power. See LV Battery - Li-lon (Disconnect and Connect).
  9. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
