Insulator - FastCharge - Lower (Remove and Replace)

Only technicians who have been trained in High Voltage Awareness and have completed all required certification courses (if applicable) are permitted to perform this procedure. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and insulating HV gloves with a minimum rating of class 0 (1000V) must be worn at all times a high voltage cable, busbar, or fitting is handled. Refer to Tech Note TN-15-92-003, High Voltage Awareness Care Points for additional safety information.

Reuse

Remove

  1. Remove the HV battery fast charge negative DC link busbar. See Busbar - Fast Charge Contactor to DC Bus - Negative (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the HV battery fast charge negative inlet busbar. See Busbar - Fast Charge - Input - Negative (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the HV battery fast charge positive DC link busbar. See Busbar - Fast Charge Contactor to DC Bus - Positive (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the HV battery fast charge positive inlet busbar. See Busbar - Fast Charge - Input - Positive (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the fast charge contactor to the lower fast charge insulator, and then remove the contactor from the insulator.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Insulated tools:
      • Ratchet/torque wrench
      • 4 in extension
    • Socket External Torx 1/4in Dr. E8

Install

  1. Install the HV battery fast charge contactor to the lower fast charge insulator.

  2. Install the bolts (x3) that attach the fast charge contactor to the insulator, and then mark the bolts with a paint pen after they are torqued.
    5.5 Nm (4.1 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Insulated tools:
      • Ratchet/torque wrench
      • 4 in extension
    • Socket External Torx 1/4in Dr. E8
  3. Install the HV battery fast charge positive inlet busbar. See Busbar - Fast Charge - Input - Positive (Remove and Replace).
  4. Install the HV battery fast charge positive DC link busbar. See Busbar - Fast Charge Contactor to DC Bus - Positive (Remove and Replace).
  5. Install the HV battery fast charge negative inlet busbar. See Busbar - Fast Charge - Input - Negative (Remove and Replace).
  6. Install the HV battery fast charge negative DC link busbar. See Busbar - Fast Charge Contactor to DC Bus - Negative (Remove and Replace).
