Procedure
- Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
-
Apply the brake pedal depressor.
NoteVerify the brake pedal is fully pressed to avoid wheels from spinning.
- Raise and support the vehicle. See GUID-0ECF2493-88F6-48E9-ADBB-9AE1D52E217C.html.
- Remove the LH rear wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
-
Remove the bolt that
attaches the LH rear rotor to the hub.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 2 in extension
- 10 mm socket
- Cordless 1/4in Dr Ratchet
- Ratchet/torque wrench
-
Install the brake rotor run
out clamping plate onto the LH rear rotor.NoteThis simulates the wheel being installed, thus preventing inaccurate measurements.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Brake Rotor Run Out Kit - 1064697-00-B
- Ratchet/torque wrench
- 21 mm deep socket
- Breaker bar
- Lower the vehicle to suitable height, and then remove the brake pedal depressor.
-
Raise the vehicle partially
and lower the lift onto locks.
NoteMake sure that there is an audible click of locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise the vehicle may tilt to one side.
- Install the brake rotor run out flex bar onto the LH rear toe link bolt and setup for reading.
-
Measure 15 mm inward from
the LH rear rotor end and align digital indicator, and then press the
indicator rod and zero measurement.
NoteMake sure that the indicator rod is pressed to allow travel in both directions and does not bottom out.
- Mark the top center of the LH rear rotor to identify the starting point.
-
Slowly rotate the LH rear
rotor one full revolution.
Note
- Record the highest positive and lowest negative values as shown on the digital indicator as you complete the rotation.
- The total runout is the difference between the highest positive and lowest negative values and must not exceed 0.050 mm (for base brake rotors) or 0.150 mm (for performance brake rotors). If the total runout exceeds 0.050 mm (for base brake rotors) or 0.150 mm (for performance brake rotors), the brake rotor must be replaced due to excessive runout.
-
Measure 30 mm inward from
the LH rear rotor end and align digital indicator, and press the indicator
rod and zero measurement.
NoteMake sure that the indicator rod is pressed to allow travel in both directions and does not bottom out.
-
Slowly rotate the LH rear rotor one full revolution.
-
Measure 45 mm inward from
the LH front rotor end and align digital indicator, and press the indicator
rod and zero measurement.
NoteMake sure that the indicator rod is pressed to allow travel in both directions and does not bottom out.

- Remove the brake rotor run out flex bar from the LH rear toe link bolt.
