Foam - Seat Back - Front Seat - RH (Remove and Replace)

Remove
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the RH instrument panel end cap. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the RH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the RH 1st row seat assembly. See Seat Assembly - 1st Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the RH 1st row headrest trim. See Headrest - Front Seat (Remove and Replace).
- Manuever the seat to gain access to the underside.
- Unhook the clips (x2) that attach the lower section of the seat back cover and move the seat back flap away from the working area.
- Disconnect the seat back heater connector, and then separate the heater connector from the seat underside.
- Position the RH 1st row seat assembly in the upright position.
- Remove the RH 1st row seat back shell. See Shell - Seat Back - Front Seat (Remove and Replace).

Remove the upper flap that
covers the outboard corner of the RH 1st row seat back frame.
NotePull the lower section of trim away from the retaining tab to release it, then pull the trim straight up off of the upper retaining tab.

Remove the lower flap that covers the outboard corner of the RH 1st row
seat back frame.
NotePull the trim straight up off of the upper retaining tab to release it, then pull the lower section of trim off of the retaining tab.

Remove the upper flap
covering the inboard corner of the RH 1st row seat back frame.
NotePull the lower section of trim away from the retaining tab to release it, then pull the trim straight up off of the upper retaining tab.

Remove the lower flap covering the inboard corner of the RH 1st row seat
seat back frame.
NotePull the trim straight up off of the upper retaining tab to release it, then pull the lower section of trim off of the retaining tab.
- Remove the seat back cover retainers(x7) from the RH 1st row seat back frame.
- Release the strap that attaches the seat back cover to the foam pad.
- Disconnect the RH 1st row seat backrest ventilation fan connector.
- Rotate the RH 1st row seat backrest ventilation fan clockwise to remove it from the foam.
- Pull the RH 1st row seat back cover away from the RH 1st row seat side airbag to gain access to the air bag electrical connector.
- Disconnect the RH 1st row seat side airbag connector.

Remove the bolt that
attaches the bottom of the lumbar support to the seat back frame.
NoteThe bolt is located below the lumbar ECU. Removing this bolt allows ease of access for the following step.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
- Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
- 2 in extension
- Ratchet/torque wrench
- Release the tabs(x2) that attach the bottom of the lumbar support to the seat back frame.

Remove and discard the nuts
(x2) that attach the RH 1st row seat side airbag to the seat back
frame.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm deep socket
- Ratchet/torque wrench

Carefully pull the RH 1st
row seat side airbag chute from the seat back frame.
CAUTIONDo not remove the airbag from the airbag chute.

Remove the seat upholstery
assembly by pulling the bottom of the seat back cover away from the seat
back frame.
NoteMake sure the heater harness and the seat back cover are clear of the seat back frame.

Slide the airbag chute with
the airbag still inside through the seatback foam, and then carefully remove
the airbag from the airbag chute.
CAUTIONMake sure that the RH 1st row side airbag mounting studs do not catch in the holes of the airbag chute.CAUTIONHandle the airbag with extreme care when removing it from the airbag chute. The airbag is configured/folded in a specific manner and will need to be replaced if it is dropped, altered or manipulated in any way.
- Remove the heater harness from the RH 1st row seat back cover.

Remove the Velcro strips
(x4) that attach the seat back cover to the foam pad, and then remove the
cover from the foam pad.
NoteBe cautious while release the Velcro strips to aviod any damage on the foam pad.
Install

Install the Velcro strips
(x4) that attach the seat back cover onto the seat back foam pad.
NoteMassage the Velcro to make sure the cover and the foam pad are perfectly fit.
- Put the heater harness through the hole in the bottom of the RH 1st row seat back cover.

Install the RH 1st row side
airbag into the airbag chute, and then insert the airbag chute with the
airbag inside through the slot in the seat back foam.
CAUTIONMake sure that the RH 1st row side airbag mounting studs extend out of the holes of the chute.CAUTIONHandle the airbag with extreme care when installing it into the airbag chute. The airbag is configured/folded in a specific manner and will need to be replaced if it is dropped, altered or manipulated in any way.

Install the RH 1st row seat
back upholstery assembly onto the seat back frame.
NoteStart by sliding the foam trim straight onto the seat back frame. Ensure the posts for the headrests engage the seat back foam.NoteEnsure the heater harness and lower trim that engages the frame are pushed through to the back side of the frame.

Install the RH 1st row seat
side airbag studs (x2) into the seat back frame.
NoteThe studs should line up with the two round holes. The elongated hole is not used for this part.

Install new nuts (x2) that
attach the RH 1st row seat airbag to the seat back frame.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm deep socket
- Ratchet/torque wrench
- Connect RH 1st row seat side airbag electrical connector.
- Install the tabs(x2) that attach the bottom of the lumbar support to the seat back frame.

Install the bolt that
attaches the bottom of the lumbar support to the seat back frame.NoteThe bolt is located below the lumbar ECU.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm deep socket
- Ratchet/torque wrench
- Install the lower flap that covers the inboard corner of the RH 1st row seat back frame.
- Install the upper flap that covers the inboard corner of the RH 1st row seat back frame.
- Install the lower flap that covers the outboard corner of the RH 1st row seat back frame.
- Install the upper flap that covers the outboard corner of the RH 1st row seat back frame.
- Install the strap that attaches the seat back cover to the foam pad.
- Install the seat back cover retainers(x7) to the RH 1st row seat back frame.
- Rotate the RH 1st row seat backrest ventilation fan counter-clockwise to install it onto the foam pad.
- Connect the RH 1st row seat backrest ventilation fan connector.
- Install the RH 1st row seat back shell to the seat. See Shell - Seat Back - Front Seat (Remove and Replace).
- Install the RH 1st row headrest trim. See Headrest - Front Seat (Remove and Replace).
- Manuever the seat to gain access to the underside.
- Fasten the clip that attaches the seat back heater connector to the seat underside, and then connect the electrical wiring harness to the seat back heater connector.
- Attach the clips (x2) that attach the lower section of the seat back cover to the seat suspension.
- Position the RH 1st row seat assembly in the upright position.
- Install the RH 1st row seat assembly. See Seat Assembly - 1st Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the RH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the RH instrument panel end cap. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
