Power Strut - Liftgate - LH (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Remove the trunk garnish. See Garnish - Trunk (Remove and Replace).
  2. Near the LH side of the vehicle interior where the trunk garnish was removed, disconnect the electrical harness from the trunk power strut electrical connector.
  3. Push the trunk power strut rubber grommet through the body of the vehicle.
  4. Support the trunk with a prop.
  5. Release the clip that attaches the upper end of the trunk power strut to the upper trunk lid ball stud.

  6. Release the clip that attaches the lower end of the trunk power strut to the lower trunk lid ball stud.
  7. Remove the power strut from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Clean both ball joints on the vehicle with an IPA wipe before installing the strut.
  2. Install the clip that attaches the lower end of the trunk power strut to the lower trunk lid ball stud.

    CAUTION
    Make sure that the clips that attach the power strut ends to the trunk are securely attached to avoid the strut to become loose and damaged.
  3. Install the clip that attaches the upper end of the trunk power strut to the upper trunk lid ball stud.
  4. Remove the prop supporting the trunk.
  5. Pull the trunk power strut rubber grommet through the body of the vehicle.
  6. Connect the electrical harness to the trunk power strut electrical connector.
  7. Install the trunk garnish. See Garnish - Trunk (Remove and Replace).
