Assembly - Brake Pedal (RHD) (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open the RH front door and lower the RH front window.
  2. Move the driver's seat backward.
  3. Remove the rear apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  4. Disconnect the LV battery power. See LV Battery - Li-lon (Disconnect and Connect).
  5. Remove the RH footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Driver (RHD) (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the brake clevis clip. See Clevis Pin - Brake Pedal (Remove and Replace).
  7. Disconnect the accelerator pedal electrical connector.
  8. Remove the bolt and the nuts (x4) that attach the brake pedal assembly to the vehicle, and then discard the nuts.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • 13 mm deep socket
    • 4 in extension
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  9. Remove the brake pedal and the accelerator pedal as an assembly from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Position the brake pedal assembly onto the body.
  2. Install the bolt and the new nuts (x4) that attach the brake pedal assembly to the vehicle.
    16.5 Nm (12.2 lbs-ft)
    13 Nm (9.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • 13 mm deep socket
    • 4 in extension
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  3. Connect the accelerator pedal electrical connector.
  4. Install the brake clevis clip. See Clevis Pin - Brake Pedal (Remove and Replace).
  5. Install the RH footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Driver (RHD) (Remove and Replace).
  6. Connect the LV battery power. See LV Battery - Li-lon (Disconnect and Connect).
  7. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  8. Click the Actions tab, and then type "TEST-SELF_DI_X_ACCEL-PEDAL" into the search field.
  9. Click TEST-SELF_DI_X_ACCEL-PEDALSearch for routine in ToolboxAccelerator Connection Test, click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
  10. Disconnect the laptop with Toolbox 3 from the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  11. Install the rear apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  12. Move the driver seat back to its original position.
  13. Raise the RH front window and close the RH front door.
