IP Carrier (Remove and Install)

Reuse

Remove

  1. Open both front doors and lower both front windows.
  2. Move the LH and RH front seats backward.
  3. Disconnect the LV battery power. See LV Battery - Li-lon (Disconnect and Connect).
  4. Remove the LH and RH instrument panel end caps. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the LH and RH upper A-pillar trims. See Trim - A-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the passenger footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Front Passenger (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the glove box. See Glove Box (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the passenger footwell duct. See Duct - Footwell - RH (Remove and Replace).
  9. Remove the RH instrument panel air wave duct. See Duct - Air Wave - RH (Remove and Replace).
  10. Remove the driver footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  11. Remove the instrument panel lower assembly. See Assembly - Instrument Panel - Lower (Remove and Replace).
  12. Remove the driver airbag assembly. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  13. Remove the steering wheel. See Steering Wheel (Remove and Replace).

    Note
    Mark the steering wheel to steering column before removing the steering wheel.
  14. Remove the touchscreen. See Touchscreen - Front (Remove and Replace).
  15. Remove the instrument panel speaker grille. See Speaker Grille - Instrument Panel (Remove and Replace).
  16. Remove the LH and RH instrument panel speakers. See Speaker - Dash - LH (Remove and Replace).
  17. Remove the center instrument panel speaker. See Speaker - Dash - Center (Remove and Replace).
  18. Lift the white tab to disconnect the passenger air bag connector.
  19. Remove and discard the patch bolts (x2) that secure the instrument panel carrier to the cross car beam near the passenger airbag.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • 6 in extension
    • ¼ in to 3/8 in adapter
    • External Torx E10
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  20. Release the instrument panel harness from the cross car beam.
  21. Disconnect the instrument panel harness connector from the RH side of the panel.
  22. Remove the screws (x8) and the datums (x7) that attach the instrument panel carrier to the cross car beam.

    Note
    There is 1 screw and 1 datum on the upper LH side, 3 screws and 2 datums on the lower LH side, 3 screws and 3 datums at the lower center, and 1 screw and 1 datum on the upper RH side.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • 2 in extension
    • Torx T20 socket
    • 4 in extension
    • Ratchet/torque wrench

  23. Disconnect the instrument panel harness connector from the LH side of the panel.

    Note
    Gently pull out the instrument panel and lift it to facilitate disconnecting the connector.
  24. With assistance, release guide tabs (x4) and tabs (x2) to remove the instrument panel carrier from the vehicle.

Install

  1. With assistance, place the new instrument panel carrier onto the Portable Bench.
  2. With assistance, secure the guide tabs (x4) and tabs (x2) to install the instrument panel carrier to the vehicle.
  3. Connect the instrument panel harness connector to the LH side of the panel.

    Note
    Gently pull out the instrument panel and lift it to facilitate connecting the connector.
  4. Install the screws (x8) and the datums (x7) that attach the instrument panel carrier to the cross car beam.
    2.3 Nm (1.7 lbs-ft)

    There is 1 screw and 1 datum on the upper LH side, 3 screws and 2 datums on the lower LH side, 3 screws and 3 datums at the lower center, and 1 screw and 1 datum on the upper RH side.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • 2 in extension
    • Torx T20 socket
    • 4 in extension
    • Ratchet/torque wrench

  5. Connect the instrument panel harness connector to the RH side of the panel.
  6. Install the instrument panel harness to the cross car beam.
  7. Connect the passenger airbag connector.

    Note
    When the connector is fully seated, you will hear the click sound of the secondary locking pin returning.
  8. Install new patch bolts (x2) (1112138-00-C) that secure the instrument panel carrier to the cross car beam near the passenger airbag.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • 6 in extension
    • ¼ in to 3/8 in adapter
    • External Torx E10
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  9. Install the center instrument panel speaker. See Speaker - Dash - Center (Remove and Replace).
  10. Install the LH and RH instrument panel speakers. See Speaker - Dash - LH (Remove and Replace).
  11. Install the instrument panel speaker grille. See Speaker Grille - Instrument Panel (Remove and Replace).
  12. Install the touchscreen. See Touchscreen - Front (Remove and Replace).
  13. Install the steering wheel. See Steering Wheel (Remove and Replace).
  14. Install the driver airbag assembly. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  15. Install the instrument panel lower assembly. See Assembly - Instrument Panel - Lower (Remove and Replace).
  16. Install the driver footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  17. Install the RH instrument panel air wave duct. See Duct - Air Wave - RH (Remove and Replace).
  18. Install the passenger footwell duct. See Duct - Footwell - RH (Remove and Replace).
  19. Install the glove box. See Glove Box (Remove and Replace).
  20. Install the passenger footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Front Passenger (Remove and Replace).
  21. Install the LH and RH upper A-pillar trims. See Trim - A-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  22. Install the LH and RH instrument panel end caps. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  23. Connect the LV battery power. See LV Battery - Li-lon (Disconnect and Connect).
  24. Move the LH and RH front seats to original position.
  25. Raise both front windows and close both front doors.
