Brake Pad Kit - Front (Base Brakes) (Remove and Replace)

Remove
- Raise and support the vehicle. See GUID-0ECF2493-88F6-48E9-ADBB-9AE1D52E217C.html.
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
- Place absorbent material underneath the brake booster and reservoir area.
- Remove the LH and RH front wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Remove the brake pad retaining pins that attach the anti-rattle spring from the LH front brake caliper.
- Remove the front brake pads from the LH front brake caliper.
- Use the caliper spreader kit or similar tool to gently push the piston back into the caliper.
- Clean the caliper pins and anti-rattle spring with soapy water and a hand brush.
- Repeat step 5 through step 8 to remove the RH front brake pads.
Install
- Apply an even layer of Silaramic grease to the left and right side edges of the LH front brake pads.
- Install the LH front brake pads to the LH front brake caliper.
- Apply an even layer of Silaramic lubricant to the LH front brake caliper retaining pins.
- Install the brake pad retaining pins that attach the anti-rattle spring to the LH front brake caliper.
- Repeat step 1 through step 4 to install the RH front brake pads.
- Install the LH and RH front wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Pump the brake pedal 3-5 times to seat the pads against the brake rotor until the brake pedal feels firm.
- Check the brake fluid reservoir and top off as necessary.
- Remove the absorbent material from underneath the brake booster and reservoir area.
- Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the lift arms from below the vehicle.

following:
- If the brake pads
were not replaced in this procedure, perform a road test using a series
of aggressive stops and make sure that there is proper brake pedal feel

- If the brake pads
were replaced in this procedure, perform the brake pad burnishing

- If the brake pads
were not replaced in this procedure, perform a road test using a series
of aggressive stops and make sure that there is proper brake pedal feel
and brake performance.
