Hinge - Tray - HV Controller (Remove and Replace)

Only technicians who have been trained in High Voltage Awareness and have completed all required certification courses (if applicable) are permitted to perform this procedure. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and insulating HV gloves with a minimum rating of class 0 (1000V) must be worn at all times a high voltage cable, busbar, or fitting is handled. Refer to Tech Note TN-15-92-003, High Voltage Awareness Care Points for additional safety information.

Torque Specifications

Remove

  1. Remove the ancillary bay cover. See Ancillary Bay Cover (Remove and Replace).

    Warning
    HV insulating gloves and leather glove protectors must be worn throughout the remainder of this procedure. Do not remove gloves or protectors until otherwise noted.
  2. Remove the pyrotechnic battery disconnect. See Pyro Disconnect - HV Battery (Remove and Replace).
  3. Release the clips (x6) that attach electrical harness to the HV controller hinge tray.
  4. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the HV controller hinge tray to the HV controller.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • External Torx E6
    • Insulated tools:
      • Ratchet/torque wrench
  5. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the HV controller hinge tray to the ancillary bay cover.

    Note
    There are 3 wires routed through the RH hinge, take note of how they are routed and take care not to damage them.

    Pull the HV controller slightly upwards to gain access to the bolts.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Insulated tools:
      • Ratchet/torque wrench
      • Torx T25 socket
  6. Remove the HV controller hinge tray and hinges (x2) from the ancillary bay cover.
  7. Remove the hinges (x2) from the HV controller hinge tray.

Install

  1. Install the hinges (x2) to the HV controller hinge tray.
  2. Secure the locator pins (x4) that attach the HV controller hinge tray onto the ancillary bay cover.

    Note
    Make sure that the 3 wires are routed through the RH hinge.
  3. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the HV controller hinge tray to the ancillary bay cover.
    2 Nm (1.5 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Insulated tools:
      • Ratchet/torque wrench
      • Torx T25 socket
  4. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the HV controller hinge tray to the HV controller.
    5.5 Nm (4.1 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • External Torx E6
    • Insulated tools:
      • Ratchet/torque wrench
  5. Fasten the clips (x6) that attach electrical harness to the HV controller hinge tray.
  6. Measure the voltage across the pyrotechnic battery disconnect mount points, and then install the pyrotechnic battery disconnect. See Pyro Disconnect - HV Battery (Remove and Replace).
  7. Install the ancillary bay cover. See Ancillary Bay Cover (Remove and Replace).

    Note
    Before installing the ancillary bay cover, inspect the ancillary bay cover seal and confirm there is no visual damage. If the seal is torn and/or delaminated, replace the ancillary bay cover.
