Lumbar Support - Backrest - Driver Seat (Remove and Replace)

Remove
- Remove the driver seat back shell. See Shell - Seat Back - Front Seat (Remove and Replace).
- Disconnect the LV power. See LV Battery - Li-lon (Disconnect and Connect).

Release LH front seat back trim retainers (X6) from seat back frame.
CAUTIONWearing certain PPE to avoid hands cut.

Remove the upper and lower flaps
covering the outboard side of the seat back frame.
NotePull the flaps out of the metal retaining tabs to release them.
- Pull the seat upholstery away from the airbag to gain access to the electrical connector and then press and hold the black tabs on both sides and pull them down to disconnect the airbag electrical connector.
- Remove the harness clip securing the air bag pigtail to the seat back frame with a clip prytool.
- Disconnect the electrical harness from the recliner motor connector.
- Disconnect the electrical harness from the lumbar valve pack and ECU.
- Disconnect the electrical harness from the lumbar pump connector.
- Disconnect the electrical harness from the backrest ventilation fan connector.
- Use a trim tool to release the clips (x4) that attach the electrical harness to the seat frame.

Remove the bolt that attaches the
lumbar support assembly to the seat frame.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 2 in extension
- 10 mm socket
- Cordless 1/4in Dr Ratchet
- Electronic torque wrench (for installation only)
- Release lower portion of power lumbar assembly from seat back frame.

Remove the upper and lower flaps
covering the inboard side of the seat back frame.
NotePull the flaps out of the metal retaining tabs to release them.

Pull the seat upholstery away from the
FSAB to gain access to the clips holding the lumbar and then release the clips (x2)
holding the lumbar pump to the seat frame.
NoteSqueeze the three lobes of the retaining clips and push towards the pump to release.

Slide the lumbar support assembly
down, then press the bottom of the lumbar support assembly in, and at the same time,
slide the lumbar support assembly up. Pivot the bottom of the lumbar support assembly
out from the frame, and pull the lumbar support assembly down and out of the
frame.

Install

Slide the lumbar assembly posts into
the top of the seat back frame and push the assembly in toward the foam. Then slide the
assembly down towards the bottom of the seat frame and clip the bottom of the assembly
to the seat frame.

- Install the clips (x2) holding the lumbar pump to the seat frame.
- Connect front airbag electrical connector.

Install the lower and upper flaps
covering the inboard corner of the seat back frame.
NotePull the flaps over the metal retaining tabs to secure them.
- Connect the electrical harness of the lumbar pump connector.
- Connect the electrical harness of the lumbar valve pack and ECU.
- Connect the electrical harness of the recliner motor.
- Secure the lower portion of power lumbar assembly onto seat back frame.

Install the bolt securing the power
lumbar assembly to the seat back frame.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 2 in extension
- 10 mm socket
- Cordless 1/4in Dr Ratchet
- Electronic torque wrench (for installation only)
- Install the clips (x4) that attach the electrical harness to the seat frame.
- Install the electrical harness of the backrest ventilation fan.
- Install the seat trim to the lumbar assembly.
- Install the harness clip securing the airbag pigtail to the seat back frame with a clip prytool.
- Connect the LH front seat side air bag connector.
- Install the clips (x2) holding the outboard seat back trim to the seat frame.

Install the lower and upper flaps
covering the outboard corner of the seat back frame.
NotePull the flaps over the metal retaining tabs to secure them.
- Install the driver seat back shell. Shell - Seat Back - Front Seat (Remove and Replace).
- Connect the LV power. See LV Battery - Li-lon (Disconnect and Connect).
- Reinstall the software. See Software Reinstall - Touchscreen.
- Adjust the LH front seat to original position. Raise all windows and close all doors.
