Vehicle Controller - USB Assembly (Remove and Replace)

Torque Specifications

Reuse

Remove

  1. Remove the center console phone dock. See Phone Dock (Clip) - Interior Trim - Center Console (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove center console rear end panel. See Panel - Rear End - Center Console (Remove and Replace)
  3. Remove LH rear side panel from center console assembly. See Panel - Rear Side - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove LH front side panel from center console assembly. See Carpet - Side - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove LH center décor trim. See Decor Trim - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Repeat step 3 through step 5 for the RH side of the vehicle.
  7. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  8. Disconnect LV battery power. See LV Battery - Li-lon (Disconnect and Connect)
  9. Remove the rear end module assembly. See Module - Rear End - Center Console (Remove and Replace)

    Note
    No need to remove the rear end module from the assembly.
  10. Disconnect the center console USB hub connector.
  11. Remove the bolts (x4) and datum that attach the USB hub to the center console, and then remove the USB hub from the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 2 in extension
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • Torx T20 socket
    • Ratchet/torque wrench

Install

  1. Install the bolts (x4) and datum that attach the USB hub to the center console.
    1.1 Nm (.8 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 2 in extension
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • Torx T20 socket
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  2. Connect the center console USB hub connector.
  3. Install the rear end module assembly. See Module - Rear End - Center Console (Remove and Replace)
  4. Connect LV battery power. See LV Battery - Li-lon (Disconnect and Connect)
  5. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  6. Install LH center console décor trim. See Decor Trim - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  7. Install LH center console front side panel. See Carpet - Side - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Install LH center console rear side panel. See Panel - Rear Side - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  9. Repeat step 6 through step 8 for the RH side of the vehicle.
  10. Install the center console rear end panel. See Panel - Rear End - Center Console (Remove and Replace)
  11. Install the center console phone dock. See Phone Dock (Clip) - Interior Trim - Center Console (Remove and Replace).
  12. Reinstall the vehicle firmware. See Software Reinstall - Touchscreen.
  13. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  14. In Toolbox, click the Actions/Autodiag tab, and then type "TEST-SELF_VCUSB_X_HVAC-ACTUATOR" into the search field.
  15. Click TEST-SELF_VCUSB_X_HVAC-ACTUATORSearch for routine in ToolboxVCUSB Airwave Actuator Self Test, click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
  16. Disconnect the laptop with Toolbox 3 from the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
