This procedure requires the availability of Pressure Washer Kit (2325255-00-A). If it is unavailable, clean the radiator with a blow gun. Refer to .

Procedure

  1. Place the vehicle on the 2-post lift.
  2. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  3. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  4. Disconnect the LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  5. Remove the bolts (x3) that secure the washer tank to the front end carrier, and then move the washer tank aside.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 2 in extension
    • 10 mm socket
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  6. Carefully remove the ambient temperature sensor cover from the active grille shutter.
  7. Release the clip that attaches the cover to the active grille shutter.
  8. Release the connector lock, and then disconnect the active grille shutter actuator electrical connector.

    CAUTION
    Do not push down on the red tab. Pull the red tab to release the connector lock.
  9. Install the waterproof connector plugs (2303607-00-A) to the active grille shutter electrical connector, hood latch connector and LV battery connector.

    Note
    Keep the harness and connectors away from the radiation to avoid water ingress.
  10. Release the clips (x8) that attach the upper and middle of the active grille shutter to the cooling fan module.
  11. Remove the front valance. See Valance - Front Fascia (Remove and Replace).
  12. Install towel to the front of subframe to protect the cooling fan in later steps.
  13. With assistance supporting the cooling fan module assembly, remove the LH and RH bolts (x2) that attach the cooling fan module assembly to the front end carrier.

    • 8 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  14. Release the clips (x) that attach the lower of the active grille shutter to the cooling fan module.
  15. Fully lower the vehicle.

    Note
    Raise the lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered.
  16. Remove the active grille shutter from the vehicle.

    Take care not to damage the radiator while removing the active grille shutter.
  17. Remove the locking tabs (x8) that attach the stone guard to the radiator.
  18. Place a fluid catcher underneath the front of the vehicle.
  19. Use a vacuum to clean the dirt on the radiator.

    Note
    If necessary, remove the large debris.
  20. Use the pressure washer kit (2325255-00-A) to clean the dirt on the radiator again.
    1. Add clear water to the pressure washer kit.
    2. Connect the pressure washer kit to the shop compressed air.
    3. Flush the upper face of radiator until all the visible dirt is cleaned.

      Do not get too close to the radiator blades.

      Sweep the nozzle up and down, and make sure that the washer nozzle is perpendicular to the radiator surface during the whole flushing process.

      Note
      Dust and debris may fly out during the process; make sure to wear proper PPE for protection, such as a mask, safety glasses, etc.
  21. Release the upper and lower locking tabs that secure the radiator to the cooling and shroud assembly.
  22. Use an inflatable airbag to separate the radiator.

    Note
    Use an inflatable airbag to raise the edge of the radiator at an angle. Be careful not to damage the surface of the radiator and the two holding mounts.
  23. Clean the bottom of the cooling fan.
  24. Remove the fluid catcher from underneath the front of the vehicle.
  25. Remove the inflatable airbag.
  26. Install the upper and lower locking tabs that secure the radiator to the cooling and shroud assembly.
  27. Install the locking tabs (x8) that attach the stone guard to the radiator.
  28. Install the active grille shutter to the vehicle, and then install the clips (x8) that attach the upper and middle of the active grille shutter to the cooling fan module.
  29. Raise the vehicle to a comfortable working height, and lower the lift onto locks.

    CAUTION
    Make sure there is an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise the vehicle may tilt to one side.
  30. Install the clips (x6) that attach the lower of the active grille shutter to the cooling fan module.
  31. With assistance supporting the cooling fan module assembly, hand-tighten the LH and RH bolts (x2) that attach the cooling fan module assembly to the front end carrier, and then torque the bolts.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)

    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  32. Remove the towel from the front of subframe.
  33. Install the front valance. See Valance - Front Fascia (Remove and Replace).

    Note
    Terminate this step after the front aero shield panel is installed.
  34. Install the clip that attaches the cover to the active grille shutter, and then install the sensor cover to the active grille shutter.
  35. Remove the waterproof connector plugs (2303607-00-A) from the connectors (x3).

    Note
    Before removing the plugs, make sure there are no water droplets on the exterior of the plugs and the connectors, to prevent water from entering the interior of the connector during plug removal.
  36. Connect the active grille shutter actuator electrical connector, then engage the connector lock.
  37. Move the washer tank back to its original position, and then install the bolts (x3) that secure the washer tank to the front end carrier.

    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  38. Install the underhood storage unit. See .
  39. Connect the LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  40. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox (Connect and Disconnect).
  41. In toolbox, click Actions tab, type Radiator in the search field, select PROC_VC_X_RESET-RADIATOR-UA-INDEXvia Toolbox:(link), click Run, and allow the routine to complete.

    Only if the vehicle software is 2026.14.3 or later, this routine can be performed in the touchscreen.
  42. Disconnect the laptop.
