Move RH front seat backward

Open hood
-
Power off vehicle from center display
NoteVia Controls > Safety > Power Off, Select Power Off button at warning dialogue box

Remove rear underhood apron

Disconnect LV battery and First Responder Loop
Note2x connectors, Release green locking tab, Press black tab then pull black connector lock outwards to release connection, Release red lock tab on FRL, Allow 2 minutes for all electrical circuits to fully discharge

Remove fresh air gutter assembly
Note3x clips

Remove access panel from frunk assembly
Note3x clips, 1x connector, 3x guide tabs, Frunk safety switch, Grasp the access panel at the top and pull it back to release the clips, Disconnect the switch

Remove bolts securing frunk assembly
Note4x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm
-
Remove frunk assembly from vehicle
Note8x clips, 3x locator pins, Replace any clips if broken or missing

Remove push clip securing RH footwell duct from RH footwell cover
Note1x push clip

Release RH footwell cover
Note6x clips, 1x guide tab

Remove connector from RH footwell cover
Note1x puddle light connector

Remove RH footwell duct securing clip from instrument bracket
Note1x push clip

Remove the RH footwell duct from HVAC module
-
Partially release RH front primary door seal
NoteRelease the lower section of RH front primary door seal

Remove RH IP end cap

Remove screws securing IP lower assembly to IP carrier
Note1x screw, T20, 2.3 Nm

Remove IP lower assembly from IP carrier

Release spring clip securing driver air bag assembly to steering wheel and pull driver air bag assembly away from steering wheel
Note2x spring clips, 2x datums, Press the spring simultaneously from two access holes to release, Access holes located at 4 and 8 o’clock position, Do not insert tool too far as air bag connector could be damaged

Disconnect driver air bag connector and remove driver air bag assembly

Remove bolt securing steering wheel to steering column
Note1x patch bolt, 10mm hex, 80 Nm, Discard after removal, Counter hold the steering wheel when breaking bolt loose

Mark the steering wheel to steering column
NoteAlign the marking during installation

Remove steering wheel from steering column
-
Pull upward to release steering column upper shroud from lower shroud

Remove upper screws securing lower shroud to steering column module
Note2x screws, T20, 1.5 Nm

Remove lower shroud from steering column
Note1x locator slot

Disconnect steering column control module (SCCM) assembly connector
Note1x connector, Remove retaining clip on the connector, release connector, then remove the remaining broken clip from connector, Discard retaining clip after removal, Originally installed clip is black, Replacement clip is orange

Remove bolt securing SCCM to steering column
Note1x bolt, T20, 2.4 Nm

Remove SCCM from steering column

Remove bolts securing gap hider lower from steering column
Note2x bolts,T25,1.4 Nm

Remove gap hider lower from steering column
Note2x locator clips ,4x tabs, 4x datums

Release steering shaft boot from bulkhead and pull into vehicle
NoteRelease from one point and work your way around

Remove bolt securing steering gear assembly to electric steering column
Note1x bolt, 13mm, 18 Nm

Slide electric steering column upward to remove it from steering gear assembly
NoteMay need to wiggle or use dead blow to help separate

Apply tape to exterior of IP to protect
-
Remove nuts securing steering column to cross car beam
Note2x nuts, 13mm, 15 Nm

Remove lower nuts securing steering column to cross car beam
Note2x nuts, 13mm, 15 Nm

Loosen screws securing steering column upper gap hider to steering column
Note2x screws, T20, 1.2 Nm

Remove steering column upper gap hider from vehicle

Disconnect electronic steering column connectors

Remove steering column from vehicle

Remove LH wiper arm nut cover

Release LH wiper arm hose nozzle

Remove LH wiper arm assembly from vehicle

Remove RH wiper arm nut cover

Remove Clip securing RH shock tower cover to cowl screen

Disconnect main washer hose

Remove clip securing FRL harness from cowl screen

Remove cowl screen from vehicle

Release bolts securing wiper module to vehicle and move a side

Disconnect wiper module connector
Note1x connector, Do not place limbs within the linkage movement area as wiper arms will automatically transition to parking mode

Remove wiper module
-
Remove fresh air intake assembly
Note2x studs, Lift cowl as needed
-
Release positive jump post
Note1x bolt, 8mm, 5 Nm
-
Remove LV battery
Note3x bolts, 8mm, 6 Nm, Raise LV battery vertically from bracket to remove
-
Release HV battery return hose from LV battery bracket

Remove retaining clips securing LV battery and First Responder Loop to shock tower support brace
Note1x retaining clips, Pull upward on clip to assist with removal

Remove retaining clips securing AC compressor HV harness to shock tower support brace
Note5x retaining clips, Pull upward on clip to assist with removal, Do not pull on HV cable.

Disconnect the HVIL connector
Note1x locking connector, Do not push down on red tab, Pull red tab to disengage lock, Pull tab again to release connector

Disconnect AC compressor logic connector
Note1x locking electrical connector, Do not push down on red tab, pull to disengage lock, pull again to release connector

Remove retaining clip securing AC compressor logic harness to AC compressor HV harness bracket
Note1x fir tree clip

Remove the clip securing the coolant hose to the AC compressor bracket
Note1x fir tree clip

Remove AC compressor ground strap
Note1x bolt, T25, 7 Nm
-
Support supermanifold with bungee cord
Note1x bungee cord, Install bungee cord to RH hood strut bracket, Route bungee cord around accumulator housing and secure to body on RH side of vehicle, Do not secure bungee cord around coolant pumps or plastic housing on supermanifold, Use a mirror as needed to visual check bungee cord around accumulator housing

Remove bolts securing supermanifold to shock tower brace
Note2x bolts, 15 mm, 31 Nm, Recommend assistance, Gently release supermanifold once bolts are removed, Ensure excess strain is not applied to Supermanifold connections

Loosen AC compressor bolts
Note2x bolts, 15 mm, 31 Nm

Remove fasteners from LH side of shock tower brace
Note2x bolts, 15mm, 55 Nm, 1x bolt, 15mm, 62 Nm

Remove fasteners from RH side of shock tower brace
Note2x bolts, 15mm, 55 Nm, 1x bolt, 15mm, 62 Nm,

Release AC compressor and AC compressor bracket assembly from shock tower brace
Note2x bolts, 15mm, 31 Nm, Recommend assistance, Carefully release AC compressor and bracket assembly, Do not rest AC compressor on HV connector

Remove shock tower brace from vehicle

Remove bolt securing ground cable to body
Note1x bolt, 10mm, 8 Nm,

Disconnect thermal sub-harness from front controller
Note1x connector, Depress locking tab and rotate to release
-
Remove bolts securing front controller shield assembly and remove from vehicle
Note2x bolts, 10mm, 8.5 Nm

Disconnect front controller harness connectors
Note5x connectors, 1x harness guide, depress locking tab if equipped

Remove bolt securing ground cable to front controller
Note1x bolt, 10mm, 8.5 Nm,

Remove bolts securing front controller
Note3x bolts, 10mm, 10 Nm
- Tilt front controller forward for access

Release LV negative harness clip from front controller

Remove the front controller from vehicle

Disconnect steering gear assembly connectors

Disconnect FDU front subframe harness

Remove washer hose from LH front frame rail area

Release front harness clips around LH front frame rail area

Remove front harness ground terminal at LH front shock tower
Note1x bolts, 10mm, 8 Nm, Inspect bolts: if they are self tapping tri-lobular bolts (1128269-00-A) then discard, If they are normal bolts (1447438-00-A) they can be reused

Remove LH harness bracke clip and remove from vehicle

Release clips securing harness behind LH shock tower

Position fluid catcher under underneath vehicle

Place absorbent material underneath brake booster and reservoir area

Remove fluid from brake fluid reservoir

Disconnect forward brake line from brake booster
Note1x nut, 12mm, 16 Nm

Disconnect rear brake line from brake booster
Note1x nut, 12mm, 16 Nm

Disconnect the hydraulic control unit connector
Note1x connector, Disengage locking tab and pull up on connector to release

Remove RH front brake line tube nut from hydraulic control unit
Note1x nut, 12mm, 16 Nm

Remove the LH rear brake line tube nut from hydraulic control unit
Note1x nut, 12mm, 16 Nm

Remove RH rear brake line tube nut from hydraulic control unit
Note1x nut, 12mm, 16 Nm

Remove LH front brake line tube nut from hydraulic control unit
Note1x nut, 12mm, 16 Nm

Remove the master cylinder secondary pipe nut from hydraulic control unit

Remove the master cylinder primary pipe nut from hydraulic control unit

Remove bolts securing hydraulic control unit bracket to frame rail

Remove hydraulic control unit and bracket from vehicle

Disconnect outer coolant hose from car computer mount

Loosely install AC compressor to Shock Tower Brace

Move AC compressor assembly and shock tower brace to installation position

Install LH shock tower brace fasteners

Install RH wiper arm and hose assembly onto vehicle
NoteAlign top of wiper blade with mark

Install nut securing RH wiper arm to wiper module
Note1x nut, 15mm, 25 Nm, Make sure the wiper tip is aligned between the two indicators at corner of windshield

Install RH wiper arm nut cover

Secure RH wiper arm washer nozzle
Note1x hose, Hose is routed below the arm

Install LH wiper arm and hose assembly onto vehicle
NoteAlign top of wiper blade with mark

Install nut securing LH wiper arm to wiper module
Note1x nut, 15mm, 25 Nm, Make sure the wiper tip is aligned between the two indicators at corner of windshield

Install LH wiper arm nut cover

Secure LH wiper arm washer nozzle
Note1x hose, Hose is routed below the arm

Install steering column to vehicle
NoteBe careful electronic steering column connectors to avoid damage

Connect electronic steering column connectors

Install steering column upper gap hider from vehicle

Tighten screws securing steering column upper gap hider to steering column
Note2x screws, T20, 1.2 Nm

Install lower nuts securing steering column to cross car beam
Note2x nuts, 13mm, 15 Nm

Install nuts securing steering column to cross car beam
Note2x nuts, 13mm, 15 Nm

Remove Apply tape
-
Slide intermediate shaft assembly downward to install it to steering gear assembly
NoteEnsure the intermediate shaft is aligned and fully seated, if necessary to align the shaft to steering gear
-
Install bolt securing intermediate shaft assembly to steering gear assembly
Note1x bolt, 13mm, 18 Nm
-
Secure steering shaft boot into position on the bulkhead
NoteApply pressure along seal to verify it is fully seated
-
lnstall gap hider lower to steering column
Note2x locator clips ,4x tabs, 4x datums
-
lnstall bolts securing gap hider lower to steering column
Note2x bolts,T25,1.4 Nm
-
Install SCCM onto steering column
-
Install bolt securing SCCM to steering column
Note1x bolt, T20, 2.4 Nm
-
Connect steering column control module (SCCM) assembly connector
Note1x connector, Install new orange retaining clip to connector then install SCCM connector, Perform push-pull-push to make sure connector is seated properly
-
Install lower shroud onto steering column
Note1x locator slot
-
Install upper screws securing lower shroud to steering column module
Note2x screws, T20, 1.5 Nm
-
Align clips then press downward to install upper shroud onto lower shroud
Note4x alignment clips,4x guide tabs

Align steering wheel to steering column then position it for installation
NoteThe steering wheel and column are keyed
-
Install bolt securing steering wheel to steering column
Note1x patch bolt, 10mm hex, 80 Nm, Install new patch bolt
-
Connect steering wheel connector
Note1x connector

Connect driver air bag assembly connector
Note1x connector, Make sure that the driver air bag harness doesn’t get caught between the driver air bag and the horn mechanism
-
Secure driver air bag assembly to steering wheel
Note2x spring clips, 2x datums, Position driver air bag onto steering wheel, Align datums onto clips, Press down on one side of air bag until clip is fully seated, then repeat on other side, You should hear an audible click, Perform pull test on each side of driver air bag assembly, Confirm the gap and space between driver air bag assembly to steering wheel is symmetrical

Install the RH footwell duct into HVAC module
-
lnstall the RH footwell duct securing clip
Note1x push clip

Install RH footwell cover
Note6x clips, 1x guide tab

Connect RH footwell cover light connector
Note1x connector

Install clip to footwell cover
Note1x push clip
-
Connect First Responder Loop and LV battery
Note2x connectors, Secure FRL first, Seat LV battery connection and push black connector lock inwards to secure, Engage green locking tab when fully seated
-
Remove coolant bottle cap from coolant bottle assembly
NotePay attention to wear relevant PPE
-
Fill coolant to the proper level
NoteEnsure that the fluid level filled to the Max line
-
Connect to vehicle using Toolbox 3.0
NoteVehicle connection is integrated into drivers footwell cover, Open Toolbox 3 website and establish connection to the vehicle. https://toolbox.teslamotors.com, Select connection status icon at top right corner, and select connect locally (icon will turn green when vehicle is connected)

Access Thermal System routines using the UI
NoteSelect Service mode > Thermal
-
Navigate to Refrigerant System through UI
NoteSelect Service Mode > Thermal > Refrigerant System
-
Select "Stop Thermal Fill Drain" through UI
NoteAllow routine to complete, ensure routine is successful
-
Select "Start Coolant Air Purge" using the UI
NoteWait until coolant pumps stop running (audible noise), Routine Passed will appear, but pumps will run for 10 minutes, If you start next another routine during this time, it will fail, Make sure vehicle is not in "Drive", Routine is still running despite the completed message, Speeds can be monitored in garage under PT Thermal tab, Idle speed = ~1500 RPM, Test will vary speeds from 3500-6500 RPM and actuate valves between SERIES and PARALLEL, Putting vehicle into "Drive" will stop this routine, If speeds hover at 7000 RPM, this indicates the pumps are air locked, perform a vacuum fill, Continue to add coolant and purge until the coolant level reaches between the NOM and MAX Lines on the bottle

Inspect coolant level and top off as necessary
NoteEnsure that fluid level is at Max line
-
Install coolant bottle cap to coolant bottle assembly
-
Raise and support vehicle
NoteEnsure vehicle is not charging
- Remove four wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).

Lower vehicle partially and set lift onto locks
NoteRaise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered, Set vehicle to comfortable working height
- Fill brake bleeder reservoir to full level
-
Top off brake fluid reservoir
NoteIf necessary
-
Install pressure bleeder adapter onto reservoir
-
Setup brake bleeder
NoteConnect power supply to bleeder and turn on the power to set pressure to 30 psi, Attach the brake reservoir hose to the brake adapter at this time
-
Select Actions/Autodiag and search for "bleed"
-
Remove front LH caliper bleed valve covers then install fluid catcher to outer bleed valve

Remove pressure bleeder adapter from reservoir

Check fluid level
NoteTop off if necessary

Install brake reservoir cap
- Pump the brake pedal to ensure the brake pedal feels normal

Select Actions/Autodiag and search for "stiffness"

Select TEST_BRAKE_X_STIFFNESS-TEST-PRESSURE-BURNISHEDIBST Stiffness Test - Burnished - PressureModelSX/tasks/TEST_BRAKE_X_STIFFNESS-TEST-PRESSURE-BURNISHED Model3/tasks/TEST_BRAKE_X_STIFFNESS-TEST-PRESSURE-BURNISHED ModelY/tasks/TEST_BRAKE_X_STIFFNESS-TEST-PRESSURE-BURNISHED Coriander/tasks/TEST_BRAKE_X_STIFFNESS-TEST-PRESSURE-BURNISHED Cybertruck/tasks/TEST_BRAKE_X_STIFFNESS-TEST-PRESSURE-BURNISHEDChassis Chassis Chassis Chassis ChassisChassis / Brakes - Brake Stiffness Test click Run, and allow routine to complete
NoteDo NOT press the brake pedal during the test, Click on drop down menu then click on "Pressure_P100" to see results, Repeat "Brake flush" steps if stiffness result is less than low limit specification, Make sure brake bleeder reservoir has enough brake fluid if repeating bleed procedure, Select ‘X’ at top right of window to close once complete

Remove diagnostic cable from port to disconnect Toolbox 3.0 from vehicle

Exit Service Mode through UI
NoteExit Service Mode: Controls > Service Mode > Exit Service Mode, Press and hold to exit

Raise vehicle partially and lower lift onto locks
NoteSet vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side
- Install four wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).

Install frunk assembly to vehicle
Note8x clips, 3x locator pins, Replace any clips if broken or missing

Install bolts securing frunk assembly
Note4x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm

Install access panel to frunk assembly
Note3x clips, 1x connector, Frunk safety switch, 3x guide tabs, Align 3x tabs then push forward to secure clips

Install fresh air gutter assembly
Note3x clips

Install rear underhood apron
Note14x clips, Hold rear wall of frunk to keep from flexing while engaging front clips
- Close hood

Move RH front seat to original position
-
Raise RH front window
-
Close RH front door
-
Perform a road test and burnish brakes, Ensure proper brake pedal feel and performance
