Glass - Door - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace)

Warning
The side impact airbag deployment depends on the rear door sensor's ability to detect a side impact from air pressure. Make sure that there are no uncovered holes in the rear door shells. Additionally, always reinstall plugs or tape when servicing or inspecting the rear doors and their components.

CAUTION
New glass components (windshield, roof, door, and fixed glass) must be inspected before installation to meet Tesla’s internal standards of quality. Perform the inspection described in Pre-Installation Glass Inspection before beginning this procedure.

Torque Specifications

Remove

  1. Remove the LH rear door puddle light. See Puddle Lamp - Rear Door (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the LH rear door trim panel. See Panel - Door Trim - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the LH rear door inner belt seal. See Seal - Inner Belt - Rear Door - LH (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the plugs that cover the openings in door for access to the bolts.
  5. Connect the window switch special tool and raise the door glass so that the regulator isolator clamp bolts are accessible from the holes.
  6. Remove and discard the bolts (x2) that attach the door glass to the regulator isolator clamps, and then remove the door glass from the door.

    Lift the glass up and then away from the run channel to remove it from the door.

    Replace the regulator isolator clamps, if damaged.

Install

  1. Inspect the regulator isolator clamps for glass splinters or other debris, and clean them if necessary.

    CAUTION
    Debris and splinters may damage or shatter the new door glass.
  2. Position the door glass into the LH rear door.
  3. Install new bolts (x2) that attach the door glass to the regulator isolator clamps.
    9.5 Nm (7.0 lbs-ft)

    Lift the glass up and then away from the run channel to remove it from the door.

  4. Install the LH rear door inner belt seal. See Seal - Inner Belt - Rear Door - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Adjust the door glass. See Glass - Door - LH - Rear (Adjust).
  6. Install the LH rear door puddle light. See Puddle Lamp - Rear Door (Remove and Replace).
  7. Install the LH rear door trim panel. See Panel - Door Trim - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Calibrate the window. See Window Regulator (Recalibrate) (Module Reset/Reflashed).
