Harness - Sub Assembly - Thermal (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the LV auxiliary battery. See LV Battery (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the fresh intake duct. See Assembly - Fresh Air Gutter - HVAC (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the fresh intake duct. See Fresh Air Intake - HVAC (Remove and Replace).
  5. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the thermal subassembly harness from the front controller.
  6. Release the clip that attaches the thermal subassembly harness to the front harness guide cover.
  7. Release the clip that attaches the thermal subassembly harness to the RH side of the coolant bottle.
  8. Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor on the chiller to battery hose, near the coolant bottle.

    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling to release the connector.

    Note the color of the tape wrapped around the connector harness and the position of the harness in relation to the coolant bottle.
  9. Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor on the powertrain supply hose, near the coolant bottle.

    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling to release the connector.

  10. Disconnect the electrical connector from the powertrain coolant pump.

    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling to release the connector.
  11. Disconnect the electrical connector from the battery coolant pump.

  12. Disconnect the electrical connector from the octovalve.

  13. Release the clip that attaches the electrical harness to the lower LH side of the coolant bottle.
  14. Release the clip that attaches the harness to the A/C compressor HV harness bracket.
  15. Release the connector locking tab, and then disconnect the low voltage electrical connector from the A/C compressor.

  16. Release the clip that attaches the coolant hose to the A/C compressor bracket, near the ground strap attachment point.
  17. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the high pressure and temperature sensor.

  18. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the recirc EXV (expansion valve).

  19. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the liquid cooled condenser EXV.

  20. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the liquid cooled condenser shut off valve.

  21. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the right side cabin condenser EXV.

  22. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the high pressure and temperature subcool sensor.

  23. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the left side cabin condenser EXV.

  24. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the chiller EXV.

  25. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the evap EXV.

  26. Loosen (but do not remove) the bolts (x2) that attach the supermanifold to the shock tower brace.
  27. Release the low pressure and temperature sensor harness from the harness mounts on the top and rear of the supermanifold.
    Tip: Release the harness with a flat head screwdriver. Wrap the tip with electrical tape to avoid damaging the harness.

  28. Remove the clips securing the coolant hose to AC compressor bracket .
  29. Loosen, but do not remove, the inner bolts that attach the LH side of the shock tower brace to the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm deep socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  30. Remove the outer bolt that attaches the LH side of the shock tower brace to the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm deep socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  31. Remove the inner bolts that attach the RH side of the shock tower brace to the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm deep socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  32. Remove the outer bolt that attaches the RH side of the shock tower brace to the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm deep socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  33. Move shock tower brace towards front of vehicle.
  34. Route the thermal subassembly harness toward the LH side of the vehicle, under the A/C compressor and between the coolant bottle and A/C compressor bracket.
  35. Remove the thermal subassembly harness from the vehicle by routing the harness out from between the coolant bottle and the supermanifold-to-HVAC A/C lines.

Install

  1. Position the thermal subassembly harness for installation near the front controller.

  2. Route the remaining portion of the harness between the coolant bottle and A/C compressor bracket, under the A/C compressor, and then onto the supermanifold.
  3. Move shock tower back into position for installation.
  4. Connect the electrical connector on the evap EXV.

  5. Connect the electrical connector on the chiller EXV.

  6. Connect the electrical connector on the left side cabin condenser EXV.

  7. Connect the electrical connector on the right side cabin condenser EXV.

  8. Connect the electrical connector on the high pressure and temperature subcool sensor.

  9. Connect the electrical connector on the liquid cooled condenser shut off valve.

  10. Connect the electrical connector on the liquid cooled condenser EXV.

  11. Connect the electrical connector on the recirc EXV.

  12. Connect the electrical connector on the high pressure and temperature sensor.

  13. Install the clip that attaches the coolant hose to the A/C compressor bracket, near the ground strap attachment point.
  14. Install the clip that attaches the harness to the A/C compressor HV harness bracket.
  15. Connect the low voltage electrical connector on the A/C compressor.

  16. Release the clip that attaches the electrical harness to the lower LH side of the coolant bottle.
  17. Install the clip that attaches the electrical harness to the lower LH side of the coolant bottle.
  18. Install the clip that attaches the thermal subassembly harness to the RH side of the coolant bottle.
  19. Install the clip that attaches the thermal subassembly harness to the front harness guide cover.
  20. Connect the thermal subassembly harness to the front controller, and then engage the locking tab.
  21. Fasten the clips securing the coolant hose to AC compressor bracket .
  22. Install the low pressure and temperature sensor harness on the harness mounts on the top and rear of the supermanifold.
    Tip: Install the harness with a flat head screwdriver. Wrap the tip with electrical tape to avoid damaging the harness.

  23. Torque the bolts (x2) that attach the supermanifold to the shock tower brace.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
  24. Connect the electrical connector on the octovalve.

  25. Connect the electrical connector on the battery coolant pump.

  26. Connect the electrical connector on the powertrain coolant pump.

  27. Connect the electrical connector on the sensor on the powertrain supply hose, near the coolant bottle.

  28. Connect the electrical connector on the sensor on the chiller to battery hose, near the coolant bottle.

  29. Slide the RH side of the shock tower brace into position for installation.
  30. Install the outer bolt that attaches the RH side of the shock tower brace to the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
  31. Install the inner bolts that attach the RH side of the shock tower brace to the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
  32. Torque the outer bolt that attaches the LH side of the shock tower brace to the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
  33. Torque the inner bolts that attach the LH side of the shock tower brace to the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
  34. Install the fresh intake duct. See Assembly - Fresh Air Gutter - HVAC (Remove and Replace).
  35. Install the fresh intake duct. See Fresh Air Intake - HVAC (Remove and Replace).
  36. Install the LV auxiliary battery. See LV Battery (Remove and Replace).
  37. Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
