Steering Wheel (Remove and Replace)

Torque Specifications

Replace The bolt is patched

Remove

  1. Set the vehicle's front wheels straight and the steering wheel centered.
  2. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  3. Disconnect the LV power. See LV Battery - Li-lon (Disconnect and Connect).
  4. Remove the driver airbag. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  5. Disconnect the steering wheel electrical wiring harness connector.
  6. Remove and discard the bolt that attaches the steering wheel to the steering column.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • 3 in extension
    • 10 mm hex socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench (for installation only)

  7. Remove the steering wheel from the steering column.

Install

  1. Position the steering wheel onto the steering column.

  2. Install the bolt that attaches the steering wheel to the steering column.
    80 Nm (59.0 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • 3 in extension
    • 10 mm hex socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench (for installation only)
  3. Connect the steering wheel electrical wiring harness connector.
  4. Install the driver airbag. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  5. Connect the LV power. See LV Battery - Li-lon (Disconnect and Connect).
  6. Reinstall the firmware. See Software Reinstall - Touchscreen.
  7. Perform the Steering Wheel Post Replacement Procedure: on the touchscreen, touch Service Mode > Chassis > SCCM > Steering Wheel Post Replacement Procedure, and then click Run.
  8. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
