Remove
- Raise and support the vehicle. See GUID-0ECF2493-88F6-48E9-ADBB-9AE1D52E217C.html.
- Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
- Enable Service Mode via vehicle touchscreen. See Service Mode.
- Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway Unlock.
- On the touchscreen, touch Run to start the "Start Thermal Fill Drain (Coolant + Refrigerant)" routine. and select
- Recover the A/C refrigerant. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge) (Maintenance).
- Disconnect the LV battery power. See LV Battery - Li-lon (Disconnect and Connect).
- Remove the front aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the coolant bottle cap. See Cap - Coolant Reservoir (Remove and Replace).
-
Disconnect the powertrain bypass hose
from the Supermanifold.
NotePlug the hose and supermanifold as needed.
-
Disconnect the radiator outlet hose
from the Supermanifold.
NotePlug the hose and supermanifold as needed.
-
Disconnect the radiator inlet hose
from the Supermanifold
NotePlug the hose and supermanifold as needed.
-
Remove the bolt that attaches the
supermanifold-to-compressor A/C line to the supermanifold.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
- Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
- 6 in extension
- Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
-
Remove the supermanifold-to-compressor
A/C line from the supermanifold, and then set it aside.
NoteCarefully position the line so that oil does not drip out.
-
Release the locking tab, and then
disconnect the electrical connector from the chiller EXV (expansion valve).
CAUTIONDO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling to release the connector.
-
Remove the chiller EXV coil.
NoteRelease the locking tab at bottom of the coil and then remove it towards front of the vehicle.
-
Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the
chiller to Supermanifold.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 8 mm socket
- 4 in extension
- Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
- Ratchet/torque wrench
WarningThe video(s) included in this procedure are meant as an overview for supplemental purposes only. Follow all of the steps listed in the procedure to avoid damage to components and/or personal injury. -
Slightly release the RH side of
chiller from Supermanifold and allow excess coolant to drain.
NoteLeave the AC ports intact to Supermanifold while coolant drains to avoid cross contamination.
- Remove chiller from Supermanifold.
- Remove and discard the chiller gasket from Supermanifold.
Install
-
Install new chiller gasket into
Supermanifold.
WarningThe video(s) included in this procedure are meant as an overview for supplemental purposes only. Follow all of the steps listed in the procedure to avoid damage to components and/or personal injury.
-
Install the chiller to
Supermanifold.
NoteLubricate the O-rings on the chiller with the appropriate A/C oil. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge) (Maintenance) for A/C oil specifications. Then hand tighten the bolts that attach the chiller to Supermanifold.
-
Torque the bolts (x4) that attach the
chiller to Supermanifold in a cross-pattern.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 8 mm socket
- 4 in extension
- Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
- Ratchet/torque wrench
-
Install the chiller EXV coil.
NoteAlign the coil locking tab to Supermanifold when installing.
-
Connect the electrical connector on
the chiller EXV.
CAUTIONPush the red locking tab towards the connector to engage the locking mechanism. DO NOT push down or pull up on the red locking tab.
- Install new seal washers on the supermanifold side of the supermanifold-to-compressor A/C line, and then lubricate the washers with a small amount of the appropriate A/C oil. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge) (Maintenance) for A/C oil specifications.
- Position the supermanifold-to-compressor A/C line on the supermanifold, and then hand tighten the bolt that attaches the A/C line to the supermanifold.
-
Tighten the bolt that attaches the A/C
line to the supermanifold.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 8 mm socket
- 4 in extension
- Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
- Ratchet/torque wrench
-
Install the radiator inlet hose to
Supermanifold.
NoteRemove plugs from both ends of coolant connections before installation. Perform a push-pull-push test to make sure the hose is fully seated.
-
