Vehicle HV Disablement Procedure (Test/Adjust)
Correction code 17010000 0.24 NOTE: Unless otherwise explicitly stated in the procedure, the above correction code and FRT reflect all of the work required to perform this procedure, including the linked procedures. Do not stack correction codes unless explicitly told to do so. NOTE: See Flat Rate Times to learn more about FRTs and how they are created. To provide feedback on FRT values, email LaborTimeFeedback@tesla.com. NOTE: See Personal Protection to make sure wearing proper PPE when performing the below procedure.
- 2025-01-30: Clarified B+ and B- probe step.
- 2024-06-05: Added warning to measure the specified order of locations for high voltage.
Only
technicians who have been trained in High Voltage Awareness and
have completed all required certification courses (if applicable) are permitted to
perform this procedure. Proper personal protective equipment
(PPE) and insulating HV gloves with a minimum rating
of class 0 (1000V) must be worn at all times a high voltage
cable, busbar, or fitting is handled. Refer to Tech Note TN-15-92-003, High Voltage Awareness

information.
- 1076921-00-A FLUKE DIGITAL MULTIMETER 1587
- 1059330-00-B Skt, 1/4in Dr, 5-Lobe Torx Plus External
- 1130480-02-A Slim Test Probes
Procedure
- Disconnect LV power. See LV Battery - Li-lon (Disconnect and Connect) (Modify).
-
Set the multimeter to
measure voltage, and then measure the voltage across the LV auxiliary
battery terminals.
CAUTIONIf the voltage across the battery terminals is less than 13 volts or greater than 16 volts, the multimeter is not measuring reliably and must not be used.
- Remove the 2nd row lower seat cushion. See Seat Cushion - 2nd Row (Remove and Replace).
- Remove all jewelry and empty your pockets before continuing this procedure.
- Put on HV insulating gloves, leather outer gloves, and safety glasses before continuing this procedure.
- Remove the HV probe cover. See Probe Lid - Ancillary Bay Cover (Remove and Replace).
-
Use the multimeter to probe
the voltages.
WarningIn order to limit potential exposure to high voltage, measure for high voltage in the order specified below.

TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- Electrical Protective Gloves
- Slim Test Probes - 1130480-02-A
- Fluke 1587 - 1076921-00-A
- Install the HV probe cover. See Probe Lid - Ancillary Bay Cover (Remove and Replace).
- Return to the procedure that required the vehicle to be electrically isolated.
