Headliner (Remove and Replace)

Reuse

Remove

  1. Remove the LH and RH sun visors. See Sun Visor Assembly, LH (Remove and Replace).
  2. Flip the rear view mirror upwards to provide more space for releasing the front headliner.

    CAUTION
    Make sure not to damage the rear view mirror when releasing the headliner.
  3. Remove the LH side rail trim. See Trim - Side Rail - LH (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the LH 2nd row seat side bolster. See Bolster - Side - Seat - 2nd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the 2nd row seat cushion. See Seat Cushion - 2nd Row (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the LH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the LH lower B-pillar trim. See Trim - B-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the LH middle B-pillar trim. See Trim - B-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
  9. Remove the LH upper B-pillar trim. See Trim - B-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  10. Push to open the LH rear coat hook.
  11. Use a small flat head screwdriver to pry open the LH rear coat hook screw cover.
  12. Remove the screw that attaches the LH rear coat hook to the body.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • 2 in extension
    • Torx T25 socket
    • Torque Wrench Hexagon - 1060071-00-A (for installation only)

  13. Repeat step 3 through step 12 on the RH side of the vehicle.
  14. Move the LH and RH front seat fully rearward, and then move the LH and RH seat back to the down position.
  15. Release the brackets that attach the headliner electrical harness to the LH A-pillar area.
  16. Disconnect the headliner electrical harness connector.
  17. Release the clips (x10) that attach the headliner to the body.

  18. With an assistant, remove the headliner from the vehicle.

    Note
    Remove the headliner through the front passenger door.

Install

  1. With the help of an assistant, move the headliner through the front passenger doorway and into the cabin.
  2. Install the headliner to the body, and then fasten the clips that attach the headliner to the body.
  3. Connect the electrical harness to the headliner connector.
  4. Fasten the clips that attach the headliner electrical harness to the LH A-pillar area.
  5. Restore the rear view mirror to original position.
  6. Install the LH and RH sun visors. See Sun Visor Assembly, LH (Remove and Replace).
  7. Move the LH and RH front seats forward.
  8. Push to open the new LH rear coat hook.
  9. Use a small flat head screwdriver to pry open the new LH rear coat hook screw cover.
  10. Install the screw that attaches the LH rear coat hook to the body.
    3.5 Nm (2.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • 2 in extension
    • Torx T25 socket
    • Torque Wrench Hexagon - 1060071-00-A (for installation only)

  11. Close the LH rear coat hook screw cover.
  12. Close the LH rear coat hook.
  13. Install the LH side rail trim. See Trim - Side Rail - LH (Remove and Replace).
  14. Install the LH upper B-pillar trim. See Trim - B-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  15. Install the LH middle B-pillar trim. See Trim - B-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
  16. Install the LH lower B-pillar trim. See Trim - B-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  17. Install the LH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  18. Repeat step 8through step 17 on the RH side of the vehicle.
  19. Install the 2nd row lower seat cushion. See Seat Cushion - 2nd Row (Remove and Replace).
  20. Install the LH 2nd row seat side bolster. See Bolster - Side - Seat - 2nd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  21. Locally connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  22. Select the Actions tab, search for TEST-SELF_VCLEFT_REAR-DOME-LIGHTS, click on TEST-SELF_VCLEFT_REAR-DOME-LIGHTSSearch for routine in ToolboxRear dome lights auto-addressing and LIN connection test, click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
  23. Disconnect the laptop.
  24. Reinstall the firmware. See Software Reinstall - Touchscreen.
