Brake Pad Kit - Rear (Sport Brakes) \(Remove and Replace\)

Remove
- Prepare the vehicle for lifting. See GUID-0ECF2493-88F6-48E9-ADBB-9AE1D52E217C.html.
- Enable Service Mode through the touchscreen. See Service Mode.
- Unlock the vehicle Gateway. See Gateway Unlock.
- Put the vehicle in EPB Service Mode: on the touchscreen, under Vehicle Info, touch Chassis, under Chassis, touch Brakes, and then in the diagram, touch EPB Service Mode.
- Read the text displayed, and under Parameters, from the Action target drop-down menu, select BOTH, from the Action type drop-down menu, select START, and then touch Run.
- Remove the LH and RH rear wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Remove the rubber cap that covers the upper LH rear caliper to caliper bracket bolt.
- Remove the upper bolt that attaches the LH rear brake caliper to the LH rear caliper bracket.
- Remove the lower bolt that attaches the LH rear brake caliper to the LH rear caliper bracket.
- Use an S-hook to hang the LH rear caliper on the body.
- Remove the brake pad from the LH rear brake caliper.
- Remove the brake pad from the LH rear brake caliper carrier.
- Use brake cleaner to clean the LH rear brake caliper and LH rear brake caliper bracket anti rattle springs.
- Repeat steps 7 through 13 on the RH side of the vehicle.
Install
- Install the brake pad on the LH rear brake caliper carrier.

Install the brake pad on the
LH rear brake caliper.
NoteMate the brake pad spring clips to the LH rear caliper cutouts.

Position the LH rear
caliper.
CAUTIONTo prevent damage to the flexible brake hose, make sure that the brake hose can bend forward and does not make contact with the wheel arch liner when the vehicle is lowered.
- Install the lower bolt that attaches the LH rear caliper to the LH rear caliper carrier (torque 71 Nm).
- Install the upper bolt that attaches the LH rear caliper to the LH rear caliper carrier (torque 34 Nm).
- Install the rubber cap that covers the upper LH rear caliper to caliper carrier bolt.
- Repeat steps 1 to 6 for the RH rear brake caliper.
- Install the LH and RH rear wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Lower the vehicle, and then shift the vehicle into Park to exit EPB Service Mode.
- Pump the brake pedal to seat the pads against the brake rotor until the brake pedal feels firm.
- Check the brake fluid level and top off as necessary
