Remove

  1. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  2. Disconnect the LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  3. Remove the driver airbag. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the steering wheel. See Steering Wheel (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the airbag bracket bolts (x4) from the steering wheel and collect the springs (x4) underneath the bolts, and then disconnect the connector.
    Note
    There is a spring under each of the 4 bolts; take care and do not lose them.
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T30 socket
  6. Remove the screws (x2) that attach the lower spoke cover to the front of the steering wheel.
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T8 bit
  7. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the lower spoke cover to the back of the steering wheel.
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 socket
  8. Remove the screw cover plate from the lower spoke cover.
  9. Remove the screws (x3) from the lower spoke cover.
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T8 bit
  10. Remove the harness from the lower spoke cover harness bracket.
  11. Remove the lower spoke cover from the steering wheel.

Install

  1. Position the lower spoke cover to the steering wheel, and then install the locator clips (x2) that attach the lower spoke cover to the steering wheel.
  2. Install the screws (x3) to the lower spoke cover.
    1 Nm (.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T8 bit
  3. Install the screw cover plate to the lower spoke cover.
  4. Install the bolts (x4) that attach the lower spoke cover to the back of the steering wheel.
    3.7 Nm (2.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 socket
  5. Install the harness to the lower spoke cover harness bracket.
  6. Install the screws (x2) that attach the lower spoke cover to the front of the steering wheel.
    1 Nm (.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T8 bit
  7. Install the airbag bracket bolts (x4) to the steering wheel, and then connect the connector.
    3.7 Nm (2.7 lbs-ft)
    Note
    Before installing the bolts, place the springs on the steering wheel bracket.
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T30 socket
  8. Install the steering wheel. See Steering Wheel (Remove and Replace).
  9. Install the driver airbag. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  10. Connect the LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  11. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
