Remove

  1. Raise and support vehicle
  2. Open all four doors

  3. Lower all four windows
  4. Set up A/C machine

  5. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace)
  6. Enable Service Mode Plus. See Service Mode Plus
  7. Unlock the vehicle Gateway. See Gateway (Unlock)
  8. Perform inspection of the current revision supermanifold

    Determine the part number of the equipped supermanifold, If replacing a -A to -E (v1.0) with a -F (v1.1) then a manifold configuration change and replacement of A/C pentaline will also be required
  9. Inspect the current coolant pump configuration: in Service Mode Plus, select Vehicle Configurations > coolantPumpType and then set the coolant pump configuration to DUAL_MIX.
  10. In Service Mode Plus, select Vehicle Configurations > superManifoldType and then set the supermanifold type to TYPE1.
  11. Turn HVAC on, Turn A/C OFF and set the Blower Speed to 10. Set the Temperature to HI and run for 10 minutes

    This will clear most of the oil out of the cabin condenser
  12. Turn off the HVAC and let it sit for 1 minute

    Make sure both compressor and blower are off, this allows refrigerant inside cabin condenser to return to the accumulator
  13. Turn the HVAC back on, Turn the A/C on, set the Blower Speed to 10 and the Temperature to LO, run the HVAC for 10 minutes

    This step will clear most of the oil out of the evaporator
  14. Turn Off the A/C and Blower motor
  15. Move LH front seat forward
  16. Move RH front seat forward

  20. Remove the front aero shield. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace)
  21. Recover the refrigerant. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge).
  22. Remove the 12V battery. See 12V/LV Battery (Remove and Replace).
  23. Position fluid catcher underneath front of vehicle
  24. Remove coolant bottle cap
  25. Disconnect the powertrain bypass hose from the Supermanifold

  49. Transfer plastic bracket from old to new Supermanifold to HVAC A/C line

  50. Secure Supermanifold to HVAC A/C line assembly to supermanifold and install nut hand tight

Install

  1. Install the Supermanifold into the vehicle and install the bolts securing the Supermanifold to the Shock tower beam

  21. Remove A/C compressor HV harness from the A/C compressor and set aside

    Move A/C compressor HV harness bracket toward the front of the vehicle, lift the bracket up to clear the upper bracket mount and carefully set harness and bracket aside
  22. Remove the fasteners securing the A/C compressor bracket to the strut tower support brace and remove the A/C compressor and A/C compressor bracket assembly

    Remove as much material of the NVH acoustic cover as possible, Excessive material left on A/C compressor will cause an inaccurate weight measurement
  26. Weigh the compressor and reset the amount of compressor oil.

    The compressor weight is to be measured in grams. Take note of the compressor weight. Add the appropriate A/C oil through the suction port of the compressor until it weighs 7193 grams (Denso compressor) or 7809 grams (Sanden compressor). See Fluids and Capacities for A/C oil specifications.
  27. Install NVH acoustic onto A/C compressor

    Install new NVH blanket or re-use old one if new one is not available, and adhesive is in good working condition. Remove adhesive backing, Lay NVH acoustic cover down with adhesive side facing up, Align cut outs of NVH acoustic cover to suction port on A/C compressor, Install NVH acoustic cover around suction port on A/C compressor then continue to wrap NVH acoustic cover around compressor

  30. Position the A/C compressor HV harness onto the A/C compressor for installation

  47. Connect 12V power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  48. Unlock the vehicle Gateway. See Gateway (Unlock)
  49. In the Service Mode screen, select Thermal > Refrigerant System > Start Thermal Fill Drain (Refrigerant only), and then click Run.
  50. In Service Mode Plus, select Thermal > Coolant Valve Test and then click Run.
  51. Reconnect A/C hoses to vehicle
  52. Perform A/C system vacuum test and refrigerant refill. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge)
  53. Select Stop Thermal Fill/Drain on the Service Mode screen.
