Remove
- Raise and support vehicle

Open all four doors
NoteIf vehicle is being powered down, Latch rear doors to prevent accidental closure
- Lower all four windows

Set up A/C machine
NoteTouch time only
- Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace)
- Enable Service Mode Plus. See Service Mode Plus
- Unlock the vehicle Gateway. See Gateway (Unlock)

Perform inspection of the current
revision supermanifold
NoteDetermine the part number of the equipped supermanifold, If replacing a -A to -E (v1.0) with a -F (v1.1) then a manifold configuration change and replacement of A/C pentaline will also be required
- Inspect the current coolant pump configuration: in Service Mode Plus, select DUAL_MIX. and then set the coolant pump configuration to
- In Service Mode Plus, select TYPE1. and then set the supermanifold type to

Turn HVAC on, Turn A/C OFF and set the
Blower Speed to 10. Set the Temperature to HI and run for 10 minutes
NoteThis will clear most of the oil out of the cabin condenser
-
Turn off the HVAC and let it sit for 1
minute
NoteMake sure both compressor and blower are off, this allows refrigerant inside cabin condenser to return to the accumulator
-
Turn the HVAC back on, Turn the A/C
on, set the Blower Speed to 10 and the Temperature to LO, run the HVAC for 10 minutes
NoteThis step will clear most of the oil out of the evaporator
- Turn Off the A/C and Blower motor
- Move LH front seat forward
- Move RH front seat forward

Perform the following
routine using Service Mode or Toolbox (see 0005 - Service Modes):

- Disconnect 12V/LV power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect)
- Perform the vehicle high voltage disablement procedure. See Vehicle HV Disablement Procedure.
- Remove the front aero shield. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace)
- Recover the refrigerant. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge).
- Remove the 12V battery. See 12V/LV Battery (Remove and Replace).
- Position fluid catcher underneath front of vehicle
- Remove coolant bottle cap

Disconnect the powertrain bypass hose
from the Supermanifold
Note1x spring clip, This will drain the coolant reservoir
-
Disconnect radiator outlet hose from
Supermanifold
Note1x spring clip, Plug hose and supermanifold as needed
-
Disconnect radiator inlet hose from
Supermanifold
Note1x spring clip, Plug hose and supermanifold as needed
-
Install 3 male plugs into the coolant
ports at the front of the Supermanifold
Note3x plugs, This will avoid any cross contamination
-
Disconnect the sensor for the chiller
to battery hose
Note1x locking electrical connector, Do not push down on Red tab, Pull red tab to disengage lock, Pull again to release connector

Disconnect the sensor for the PT
supply hose
Note1x locking electrical connector, Do not push down on Red tab, Pull red tab to disengage lock, Pull again to release connector

Disconnect chiller to battery hose
from supermanifold

Disconnect powertrain supply hose from
supermanifold

from the Supermanifold

Install 3 male plugs into the coolant
ports at the rear of the Supermanifold

Disconnect thermal sub-harness from
front controller

Remove bolts securing supermanifold to
HVAC A/C line assembly to HVAC assembly

Remove bolts securing supermanifold to
shock tower beam and remove supermanifold from vehicle
Note2x bolts, 15 mm, 31 Nm, Recommend assistance, Rotate the Supermanifold counter clockwise under the shock tower support beam

Remove nut securing supermanifold to
HVAC A/C line assembly to supermanifold and remove supermanifold to HVAC A/C line
assembly

Document old and new part numbers and
serial numbers for Supermanifold
NoteLabel is located in front of accumulator, document part numbers and serial numbers into the repair order

Transfer plastic bracket from old to
new Supermanifold to HVAC A/C line
Note1x tab, Engage tab and release bracket, Transfer bracket onto new A/C line

Secure Supermanifold to HVAC A/C line
assembly to supermanifold and install nut hand tight
Note1x nut, 13mm, 27 Nm, Torque at later step. Lubricate the lube seal washers with the appropriate A/C oil. See Fluids and Capacities for A/C oil specifications.

Install the Supermanifold into the
vehicle and install the bolts securing the Supermanifold to the Shock tower beam
Note2x bolts, 15mm, 31 Nm, Recommend assistance, Rotate the Supermanifold counter clockwise and install under the shock tower support beam, Hand start bolts to Supermanifold

Note1x locking electrical connector, 3 stage locking connector, See photos for connector positions, Move black locking tab away form the A/C compressor, position 1, then using a 45 degree pick, push down on position 2 of the locking connector while prying up on position 3 and disconnect

Remove A/C compressor HV harness from
the A/C compressor and set aside
NoteMove A/C compressor HV harness bracket toward the front of the vehicle, lift the bracket up to clear the upper bracket mount and carefully set harness and bracket aside

Remove the fasteners securing the A/C
compressor bracket to the strut tower support brace and remove the A/C compressor and
A/C compressor bracket assembly
Note2x bolts, 15mm, 31 Nm, Recommend assistance, Support the A/C compressor while removing the fasteners, Carefully remove the A/C compressor and A/C compressor bracket towards the front of the vehicle, under the strut tower support brace

Remove the A/C compressor bracket from
the A/C compressor
Note3x bolts, 10mm, 9 Nm

Remove NVH acoustic cover from A/C
compressor
NoteNVH acoustic cover must be removed to properly weigh compressor
-
Remove NVH cover material from
compressor
NoteRemove as much material of the NVH acoustic cover as possible, Excessive material left on A/C compressor will cause an inaccurate weight measurement
-
Weigh the compressor and reset the
amount of compressor oil.
NoteThe compressor weight is to be measured in grams. Take note of the compressor weight. Add the appropriate A/C oil through the suction port of the compressor until it weighs 7193 grams (Denso compressor) or 7809 grams (Sanden compressor). See Fluids and Capacities for A/C oil specifications.

Install NVH acoustic onto A/C
compressor
NoteInstall new NVH blanket or re-use old one if new one is not available, and adhesive is in good working condition. Remove adhesive backing, Lay NVH acoustic cover down with adhesive side facing up, Align cut outs of NVH acoustic cover to suction port on A/C compressor, Install NVH acoustic cover around suction port on A/C compressor then continue to wrap NVH acoustic cover around compressor

Install the A/C compressor bracket to
the A/C compressor
Note3x bolts, 10mm, 9 Nm

Position the A/C compressor and A/C
compressor bracket assembly to the strut tower support brace and secure
Note2x bolts, 15mm, 31 Nm, Recommend assistance, Support the A/C compressor while installing the fasteners, Carefully install the A/C compressor and A/C compressor bracket towards the rear of the vehicle, under the strut tower support brace, Keep A/C compressor caps on the compressor until manifold lines are installed, Hand start bolts

Position the A/C compressor HV harness
onto the A/C compressor for installation
NoteEnsure the HV harness bracket engages the upper bracket mount on the A/C compressor

Connect HV harness connector to A/C
compressor
Note1x locking electrical connector, 3 stage locking connector, After fully seating the connector onto the A/C compressor engage the black locking tab by pushing toward the A/C compressor, Perform push-pull-push test to ensure proper seating

- In the Service Mode screen, select Run. , and then click
- In Service Mode Plus, select Run. and then click
- Reconnect A/C hoses to vehicle
- Perform A/C system vacuum test and refrigerant refill. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge)

Fill/Drain on the Service Mode screen.

NoteMake sure vehicle is not in drive state, Plan is still running despite the stop message, Coolant pumps will be audible, Test lasts approximately 10 mins, Speeds can be monitored in garage under PT Thermal tab, Idle speed = ~1500 RPM, Test will vary speeds from 3500-6500 RPM and actuate valve between SERIES and PARALLEL, Putting vehicle into drive state will stop this routine, If speeds hover at 7000 RPM, that means the pumps are air locked, perform vacuum fill again, Continue to add coolant and purge until the coolant level reaches between the NOM and MAX Lines on the bottle, Select ‘X’ at top right of window to close once complete -
