Navigation Micro SD Card - Media Control Unit (Remove and Replace)
- 2023-5-23: Updated removal step 4 to state “destroy and discard the Micro SD card after removal”.
FRT No: 21063002
Note
This procedure replaces the Micro
SD card that stores navigation information for Tegra based MCUs. To replace the SD
card that has the gateway configuration and information, refer to Gateway SD Card - Media Control Unit (Remove and Replace).
Note
The Micro SD cards now come
preloaded with regional maps. Loading maps onto the MCU is no longer
required.
CAUTION
Atom based MCUs use
a Micro SD card for gateway configuration and information. Make sure to use the
correct card for the correct MCU model to prevent firmware update failure and other
errors.
Note
Refer to these Toolbox articles for additional information:
- SD card part numbers and application - #6244300
- MCU revisions and SD card configuration - #26277
- Micro SD card extraction - #5839100
Removal
- Perform the procedure to remove the MCU from the instrument panel, but do not disconnect any cables or harnesses from the MCU (refer to procedure).
-
Working from the upper right
side of the MCU, carefully use a precision screwdriver or plastic probe to
press the Micro SD card release tab down from the socket to eject the Micro
SD card.
CAUTIONTake care not to damage component(s).
-
Use tweezers to carefully
remove the Micro SD card from the MCU.
CAUTIONIf the Micro SD card is accidentally dropped into the MCU chassis, completely remove the MCU from the vehicle, and gently shake the MCU with the Micro SD card slot down to work the loose Micro SD card out of a chassis opening. If this is unsuccessful, the MCU will need to be opened to remove the Micro SD card.
- Destroy and discard the Micro SD card after removal.
Installation
-
Use tweezers to carefully
insert the new Micro SD card into the slot with the pins facing toward the
touchscreen.
- Use the precision screwdriver or plastic probe to push the Micro SD card fully into the socket until it clicks into place.
- Install the MCU (refer to procedure).
