Active Spoiler Assembly (Remove and Install)

Correction Code 12220101

Removal

  1. Use the touchscreen to move the active spoiler to the extended position:
    1. Touch Controls.
    2. Touch Settings.
    3. Touch Service & Resets.
    4. Slide the "Spoiler" bar to Extend.
  2. Remove the middle liftgate trim (refer to procedure).
  3. Remove the LH and RH side liftgate trims (refer to procedure).
  4. Disconnect the electrical connectors (x2) from the active spoiler motor.
  5. Disconnect the high mounted brake light electrical connector.
  6. On each side of the active spoiler, remove the nuts (x2) that attach the active spoiler stanchions to the hinges (torque 6 Nm).

  7. Lower the liftgate.
  8. Carefully lift the active spoiler assembly and remove it from the vehicle.

    Take care not to damage component(s).

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

  1. Make sure that the rubber gasket seals (x2) are properly seated before installing the active spoiler assembly.
  2. After installation, calibrate the rear spoiler:
    1. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle.
    2. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway Unlock.
    3. In Toolbox 3, click the Actions tab, type "X_Spoiler" into the search field, click Run BCREAR Spoiler RoutinePROC_BCREAR_X_SPOILERModelX/tasks/PROC_BCREAR_X_SPOILERLow Voltage Controllers, click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
    4. Disconnect Toolbox and remove the laptop from the vehicle.
  3. Use the touchscreen to cycle the active spoiler up and down. Make sure that it works properly.
