3 Way Coolant Valve - Radiator Bypass (Remove and Replace)

Correction Code 18306102

Removal

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the window.
  2. Remove the HEPA filter. See Filter - HEPA (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the battery cage assembly. See Cage - Battery - Auxiliary - 12V (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the clips (x2) that attach the coolant hose to the support beam.
  5. Remove the clip that attaches the cooling fan harness to the support beam.
  6. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the cooling fan shroud to the support beam (torque 12 Nm).
  7. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the support beam to the body (torque 9 Nm).
  8. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the 3-way and 4-way valve to the support beam (torque 5 Nm).
  9. Remove the support beam from the vehicle.
  10. Pinch clamps (x5) to the 3-way and 4-way valve coolant hoses.
  11. Remove the coolant hoses (x3) from the 3-way valve.

    Use rags to keep the working area clean.
  12. Remove the 3-way valve connector.
  13. Remove the clip that attaches the 3-way valve harness to the 3-way valve.
  14. Remove the 3-way valve from vehicle.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

  1. Connect a laptop to the diagnostic port of the vehicle, and then use Toolbox 3 to locally connect to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  2. Unlock the vehicle gateway for diagnostic communication. See Gateway Unlock.
  3. Using Toolbox 3:
    1. Select the Actions tab and search for "Coolant air purge".
    2. Select the ODIN routine PROC_THC_X_COOLANT-AIR-PURGEvia Toolbox: (link)via Service Mode: Thermal ➜ Actions ➜ Coolant Air Purge, and then click on the link of the routine.
    3. Click RUN, and allow the routine to complete.
  4. Disconnect the laptop from the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  5. Use the touchscreen to calibrate the falcon doors.

    Falcon door calibration is required after each 12V and first responder loop disconnection.
