2024-12-10: Added new caution about Pre-Installation Glass Inspection service requirements.
CAUTION
New glass components
(windshield, roof, door, and fixed glass) must be inspected before installation to meet
Tesla’s internal standards of quality. Perform the inspection described in Pre-Installation Glass Inspection before beginning this
procedure.
Using the window switch tool, raise the regulator for access to the front clip.
Release the front clip, then lift the glass out of the door.
CAUTION
Take care not to damage
component(s).
Installation
Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:
Warning
Always replace plugs or tape removed from the front door shells when servicing or inspecting the door or its components. Additional holes in the door creates more escape paths for air, which decreases the front door pressure sensor's ability detect a side impact, and can negatively affect airbag deployment.
CAUTION
When installing the window, do not insert the glass into the guide channel. Instead, insert the metal guide plate on the window into the channel. Evenly and progressively press the glass onto the spacers.
Note
Use a gap and flush tool to verify window fitment and seal contact.
