Cable - Latch - Hood - Secondary (Remove and Replace)

Removal

  1. Remove the front underhood storage unit (refer to procedure).
  2. Release the secondary hood latch cable end from the latch.
  3. Use a trim tool to remove the tow hook cover.

    Insert the trim tool into the notch at the top right portion of the tow hook cover.
  4. Release the straps from the tow hook cover and move them through the tow hook opening.
  5. Remove the bolts (x3) that secure the actuator assembly bracket to the front end module (torque 10 Nm).
  6. Lift the actuator assembly bracket into a working position.
  7. Separate the manual release strap from the secondary actuator assembly bracket retainer.
  8. Slide the black cap from the secondary actuator onto the secondary cable.
  9. Release the clip that secures the actuator clevis to the secondary actuator, and then slide the clevis off of the actuator.
  10. Rotate the actuator clevis 90 degrees, and then slide the clevis off of the cable end.
  11. Move the secondary cable through the slit in the side of the black cap, and remove the cap from the vehicle.
  12. Remove the screw that secures the secondary cable to the actuator assembly bracket.
  13. Release the secondary cable from the actuator assembly bracket, and then pass the end of the cable through the manual release lever.
  14. Release the clip that secures the secondary cable to the latch bracket and remove the cable from the bracket.
  15. Release the post clip that secures the secondary cable to the electrical harness, and then remove the cable from the vehicle.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal.
