Brake Lines - Master Cylinder to ABS (LHD) (Remove and Replace)
Correction Code 33034002
- 2025-08-05: Updated procedure to only bleed the front brake calipers through the inner bleed nipples, added Note to add correction code 18200102 as a separate activity to the Service Visit.
Note
This procedure requires the A/C
Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge) procedure to be performed. If not already
automatically added to the Service Visit, add correction code 18200102 as a
separate activity to the Service Visit.
Removal
- Recover refrigerant from the vehicle. See A/C Refrigerant Recovery and Recharge (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the wiper motor assembly Wiper Module (LHD) (Remove and Replace).
- Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor electrical connector.
-
Move the coolant reservoir out of the working area:
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the passive entry antenna at the bottom of the crossmember.
- Disconnect the low voltage electrical connector from the A/C compressor and the electrical connector from the high pressure pipe.
- Release the fir tree clips that attach the HV A/C compressor harness to the front drive unit.
- Release the edge clip that attaches the A/C compressor logic harness.
- Remove the screw that attaches the ground strap to the compressor bracket (torque 8 Nm).
- Release the nuts (x2) that attach the A/C lines to the compressor (torque 10 Nm).
- Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the A/C compressor bracket to the front drive unit (torque 10 Nm).
- Carefully move the A/C compressor to the RH side of the front trunk.
- Place suitable absorbent material underneath the master cylinder and hydraulic lines.
-
Release the flare fittings
(x2) that attach the front and rear hydraulic lines to the master cylinder
(torque 18 Nm).
CAUTIONIf brake fluid is spilled on a painted surface, wash off immediately with clean water.
- Plug the pipe connections to prevent ingress of moisture or dirt.
- Place suitable absorbent material underneath the ABS module hydraulic lines.
-
Release the flare fittings
(x2) that attach the front and rear hydraulic lines to the ABS module
(torque 23 Nm).
CAUTIONIf brake fluid is spilled on a painted surface, wash off immediately with clean water.
- Use a trim tool to release the fir tree clips (x2) that attach the 12V harness to the bottom of the crossmember.
- Release the brake lines from the retaining clips.
- While carefully lifting up on the LH side of the air tank reservoir, maneuver the brake lines out from the bottom of the crossmember.
- Remove the brake lines from the vehicle.
Install
Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:
- Perform a coolant air purge. See Cooling System - Partial Refill and Bleed
- Recharge the A/C system. See A/C Refrigerant Recovery and Recharge (Remove and Replace)
- Bleed the front brake
calipers through the inner nipples only. Bleed or Flush Procedure - System (Remove and Replace)NoteNo need to bleed the front brake calipers through the outer nipples.NoteNo need to bleed the rear brake calipers.
