Key Fob - Program

within this procedure are related to vehicle security, and can only be performed
by Tesla employees or third parties authorized to perform security-related
Toolbox Actions. To learn more, see the Service Subscription FAQs available in
the user account dropdown menu.
Program

Check that the vehicle software version requirements listed below are met. If
necessary, update the vehicle software.
- Intel: 2023.20 or newer
- Tegra 2022.8.10.12 or newer
- If no pull tab is present, remove the key fob cover and battery from the key fob assembly.

Use a multimeter to confirm battery voltages on new fob keys are sufficient for
procedure.
NoteBattery voltages of new keys should be 2.9V or greater.NoteDo not re-insert the battery until after starting the toolbox or UI routine at a later step.

Pair the key fob to the vehicle.
- For Intel vehicles:
- Authenticate on the vehicle local Service app with user account.
- Place the vehicle into Service Mode Plus using the Vehicle Ops App.
- Unlock the vehicle Gatweway. See Gateway Unlock.
- On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate to .
- Install the battery into the key fob.
- Tap Pair Key Fob, and then follow the on-screen
instructions.NoteIf Bluetooth connectivity is poor, triple clicking the frunk button forces the key fob to broadcast.NoteClose the routine once complete.
- For Tegra vehicles:
- Connect a laptop with Toolbox
3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).NoteConfiguration changes from within Toolbox can only be performed by a Tesla employee at this time. Third parties must request the configuration change through their agreed Tesla technical support channel.
- In Toolbox 3, select the Actions tab, type
"pairing" into the search field, click PROC_BCCEN_X_AUTO-PAIRINGvia Toolbox: (link)via Service Mode: Low Voltage ➜ Keys ➜ Pair Key, click Run, and follow the
prompts in Toolbox to program the key(s).NoteIf Bluetooth connectivity is poor, triple clicking the frunk button forces the key fob to broadcast.
- Connect a laptop with Toolbox
3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
- For Intel vehicles:
- Inspect key fob function with at least two functional keys present and paired. Check the lock/unlock and trunk/frunk release functions.
- On the touchscreen, touch .
- Disconnect the laptop with Toolbox 3 from the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
