Pipes - High/Low Pressure - Charge Port (Remove and Replace)

Choose the appropriate procedure based on the vehicle's configuration:

With Rear HVAC

Removal

Correction Code 18204102

  1. Recover refrigerant from the vehicle (refer to procedure).
  2. Remove the wiper motor assembly:
    • LHD vehicles: Refer to procedure 17502502
    • RHD vehicles: Refer to procedure 17502702
  3. Remove the bolts that secure the wiper mount bracket to the crossbeam (torque 20 Nm).
  4. Release the fir tree clip that secures the 12V harness to the wiper mount bracket.
  5. Remove the nuts that secure the wiper mount bracket to the studs on the bulkhead (torque 20 Nm).
  6. Remove the wiper mount bracket from the vehicle.
  7. Remove the nut that secures the low pressure pipe to the compressor (torque 10 Nm).
  8. Remove the nut that secures the charge port high pressure pipe to the condenser-to-chiller high pressure pipe (torque 10 Nm).
  9. Remove the nut that secures the charge port low pressure pipe to the condenser-to-chiller low pressure pipe (torque 20 Nm).
  10. Remove the nut that secures the charge port high pressure pipe to the charge-port-to-rocker high pressure pipe (torque 10 Nm).
  11. Remove the nut that secures the charge port low pressure pipe to the charge-port-to-rocker low pressure pipe (torque 10 Nm).
  12. Remove the bolt that secures the charge port high/low pressure pipes bracket to the RH shock tower (torque 6 Nm).
  13. Remove the push clips that secure the cowl support bracket to the crossbeam. Remove the cowl support bracket from the vehicle.

    Note
    Removing the cowl support bracket allows the air lines to be maneuvered during removal of the high/low pressure pipes.
  14. Remove the bolts that secure the TXV valve to the bulkhead (torque 6 Nm).
  15. Carefully pull the charge port high/low pressure pipes and TXV valve assembly away from the bulkhead.

    CAUTION
    Take care not to damage component(s).
  16. Remove the screw that secures the charge port high/low pressure pipes to the TXV valve (torque 22 Nm).
  17. Carefully maneuver the charge port high/low pressure pipes toward the front of the vehicle.

    CAUTION
    Do not damage the air suspension line when removing the high/low pressure pipes from the vehicle. Maneuver the air suspension line around the pipes as necessary.

  18. Remove the charge port high/low pressure pipes from the vehicle.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

Inspect the O-rings. Replace as necessary.

CAUTION
Lubricate new O-rings with clean refrigerant oil.
  • Make sure that the air suspension lines are routed correctly.
  • Recharge the refrigerant.

Without Rear HVAC

Removal

Correction Code 18204402

  1. Recover refrigerant from the vehicle (refer to procedure).
  2. Remove the wiper motor assembly:
    • LHD vehicles: Refer to procedure 17502502
    • RHD vehicles: Refer to procedure 17502702
  3. Remove the bolts that secure the wiper mount bracket to the crossbeam (torque 20 Nm).
  4. Remove the nuts that secure the wiper mount bracket to the studs on the bulkhead (torque 20 Nm).
  5. Remove the push clips that secure the cowl support bracket to the crossbeam. Remove the cowl support bracket from the vehicle.

    Note
    Removing the cowl support bracket allows the air lines to be moved out of the way in a later step.
  6. Remove the bolts that secure the TXV valve to the bulkhead (torque 6 Nm).
  7. Disconnect the electrical connection at the TXV valve.
  8. Remove the screw that secures the charge port high/low pressure pipes to the TXV valve (torque 22 Nm).
  9. Remove the charge port high/low pressure pipes from the TXV valve.
  10. Remove the nuts that secure the charge port high/low pressure pipes to the condenser-to-chiller high pressure pipes.
  11. Remove the nut that secures the low pressure pipe to the compressor (torque 10 Nm).
  12. Remove the bolt that secures the charge port high/low pressure pipes bracket to the RH shock tower (torque 6 Nm).
  13. Remove the fir tree clip that secures the suspension air line to the RH shock tower.
  14. Carefully move the charge port high/low pressure pipes away from the bulkhead.

    Take care not to damage component(s).
  15. Carefully maneuver the charge port high/low pressure pipes toward the front of the vehicle.

    CAUTION
    Do not damage the air suspension line when removing the high/low pressure pipes from the vehicle. Maneuver the air suspension line around the pipes as necessary.

  16. Remove the charge port high/low pressure pipes from the vehicle.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:
