Seal - Inner Belt - Front Door - LH (Remove and Replace)

Removal
- Remove the front door trim panel. See Panel - Door Trim - Front - LH (Remove and Install) .

Gently lift, and then pull back the inner belt seal.

Remove the LH outer belt seal.
NoteUse a plastic trim tool to remove the outer belt seal from the door while preventing to remove brightwork.NoteA gentle rolling of the belt seal towards the outer panel side of the door shell will be felt when releasing the outer belt seal from the door.

Remove the clips (x2) that attach the LH door front inner belt seal to the door, and then remove the seal from the vehicle.
NoteThe rear section is clipped into the body of the door, and the front has a clip by the fixed glass.NoteThe total number of clips might vary on newer vehicles.
- Clean up any double-sided tape adhesive residue from the seal that might be attached to the door with a plastic trim tool and Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) wipes.
New Seal Preparation

Remove the pins (x5) from the front molding of the new inner belt seal using diagonal cutters.
CAUTIONPins must be completely removed from the inner belt seal and any remaining material should not protrude more than 0.5 mm from the surface. Sand the any excess material, if needed.

Remove the pins (x4) from the rear molding of the new inner belt seal using diagonal cutters.
CAUTIONPins must be completely removed from the inner belt seal and any remaining material should not protrude more than 0.5 mm from the surface. Sand the any excess material, if needed.

Sand the highlighted areas of the rear molding using a cordless rotary kit.
CAUTIONDo not damage the surface that will be visible once the seal is installed.NoteReduce the remaining clips to avoid scuffing up surfaces, and also to assist with adhesion later in this procedure.

Clean the debris from the surface of the rear molding seal using an IPA wipe, and then allow the surface to dry before continuing.

Sand the highlighted areas of the front molding using a cordless rotary kit.
CAUTIONDo not damage the surface that will be visible once the seal is installed.NoteSanding should overlap at least 20 mm above the nitto foam.NoteReduce the remaining clips to avoid scuffing up surfaces, and also to assist with adhesion later in this procedure.

Clean off the front molding with an IPA wipe. Allow the molding to dry before continuing.

Apply promoter to the rear molding at the areas that were previously sanded. Allow the area to dry for at least 30 seconds before continuing.
CAUTIONAvoid applying excess promoter to the rear molding.NoteAll sanded areas of the rear molding must be covered with promoter.

Cut 3 strips of 3M double-sided tape to length as specified, and then apply the tape to the rear molding.
- 12 mm x 13 mm
- 40 mm x 13 mm
- 130 mm x 13 mm
NoteMake sure that the tape is 2 mm from the edge of the rear molding. -
Apply promoter to the front molding at the areas that were previously sanded. Allow the area to dry for at least 30 seconds before continuing.
CAUTIONAvoid applying excess promoter to the front molding.NoteAll sanded areas of the front molding must be covered with promoter.

Cut 5 strips of 3M double-sided tape to length as specified, and then apply the tape to the front molding.

- 41 mm x 13 mm
- 90 mm x 13 mm
- 150 mm x 13 mm
- 34 mm x 22 mm
NoteMake sure that the tape is 2 mm from the edge of the front molding.
Installation

Put the seal into position on the door.
NoteClip in the rear onto the door body.NoteThe seal must tuck into the door at the rear end and by the fixed glass.

Remove the adhesive backing from the double-sided tape, and then secure the seal onto the door.

Install the LH door front outer belt seal.
NoteApply P-80 emulsion lubricant to the channel to ease installation.NoteMake sure to press down to secure the seal to the door.
