Fan - Condenser (Remove and Replace)

2023-05-19: Added photos and text to discriminate PWM and LIN controlled condenser fans, and added step to reset 12V to clear faults/alerts.

Removal

Though they look identical, there are two types of condenser fans, which are not interchangeable.
- Figure 1. Vehicles built before October 18, 2016 use a PWM controlled fan (1115613-00-A), and the fan connector is grey.
- Figure 2. Vehicles built October 18, 2016 and thereafter use a LIN controlled fan (1048500-00-F), and the fan connector is black.
Remove the radiator. See Radiator (Remove and Replace).
Release the tab that secures the RH side of the condenser to the condenser fan.
Release the tab that secures the LH side of the condenser to the condenser fan and pivot the condenser towards the LH side of the condenser fan.
Lift the condenser off of the condenser fan and place it on a soft, clean surface.

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

Perform the Thermal System Test. See Cooling System - Thermal Test.
Recharge the refrigerant. See A/C Refrigerant Recovery and Recharge (Remove and Replace).
Perform a 12V reset to clear any fan faults/alerts.
