Wing - Upper - Active/Passive Spoiler (Remove & Replace)

CAUTION
For Europe only: Only
technicians who have been trained in working with diisocyanates and have completed
all required certification courses are permitted to perform procedures using
urethane and other products containing diisocyanates. Proper personal protective
equipment (PPE) must be worn when working with products containing diisocyanates.
Removal
-
Apply protective tape to the liftgate,
at both ends of the spoiler assembly to prevent vehicle damage.

Vehicles with Active Spoiler: Use the
touchscreen to move the active spoiler to the extended position:
- Touch CONTROLS.
- Touch Settings.
- Touch Service & Reset.
- Slide the "Spoiler" bar to EXTENDED.

Use the equalizer express 360 (220V)
to separate the spoiler upper wing applique from the spoiler lower wing, and then remove
the upper wing applique from the vehicle.
CAUTIONCarefully insert the equalizer blade between spoiler upper wing and spoiler lower wing to cut through the urethane. Use a wedge to help separate spoiler upper wing and allow additional clearance for the equalizer blade to access and prevent contact to the vehicle surfaces.CAUTIONTake care not to damage component(s).WarningThe video(s) included in this procedure are meant as an overview for supplemental purposes only. Installation
- Ensure that the spoiler is not damaged before installing the spoiler applique. Replace the spoiler if it is damaged.
- Use IPA and cutting tools to clean and remove excess urethane from the surface of spoiler lower wing assembly.

Apply beta seal primer to the spoiler lower wing assembly and allow at least 1 minute
of dry time.
NoteRefer to the images for open-hem (outlined in orange) or closed hem (outlined in green) upper wings urethane paths.WarningCheck the expiration date of the primer and adhesive before use.NoteCheck the primer and adhesive packaging for the appropriate working times for each product. Prepare the necessary tools and work environment so that the applique can be installed within the specified working times.NoteCheck the primer packaging for the appropriate wait time before applying adhesive.
- Apply beta seal primer to the spoiler upper wing applique and allow at lease 1 minute of dry time.

Prepare the caulking gun and urethane.
NoteThe opening must be 8mm wide and 6mm tall.

Use caulking gun to apply beta seal to the spoiler lower wing assembly and allow at
least 1 minute of dry time.
NoteRefer to the images for open-hem (outlined in orange) or closed hem (outlined in green) upper wings urethane paths.

Install the spoiler upper wing to the
spoiler lower wing assembly.
NoteApply firm and equal pressure along the entirety of the spoiler applique, using protective tape to hold down the spoiler assembly as necessary.NoteCheck gaps and fitment at all angles and make sure that the gaps between the spoiler applique and the spoiler are even front to back and side to side.

Allow the adhesive to dry for at least
1 hour.
WarningDo not drive the vehicle until the adhesive has cured. Refer to the adhesive packaging for the safe drive-away time.
- Clean the edges of the spoiler and spoiler applique with alcohol. Clean off any excess adhesive that was extruded.

Vehicles with Active Spoiler: Use the
touchscreen to move the spoiler to the retracted position:
- Touch CONTROLS.
- Touch Settings.
- Touch Service & Reset.
- Slide the "Spoiler" bar to AUTOMATIC.
- Remove the protective tape from the vehicle.
