Note
This is an add-on procedure, to be performed if one of the nuts
securing the curtain airbag to or A-pillar reinforcement is damaged.
- Install seat cover on the LH front seat and cover A-pillar trim
-
Loosen bolts securing LH inner A-pillar to A-pillar reinforcement
Note2x bolts, 10mm, 1x bolt, 13mm, 10 Nm
- Align LH A-pillar reinforcement riv nuts with corresponding holes

Remove affected riv nut from the LH A-pillar reinforcement
NoteUse 7mm drill bit to remove damaged riv nut, pay attention not to drill on Inner and reinforcement A-pillars
- Use a blow gun with shop air to blow out fallen riv nut into the lower part of A-pillar reinforcement
- Measure the distance between square hole in the LH A-pillar and affected riv nut hole

Attach a nut to a wire
NoteMake sure there is enough wire length on basis of measurements between square hole in the LH A-pillar and affected riv nut hole

Clean the nut mating with an alcohol wipe
NoteAllow to dry for 1 minute

Apply approved structural adhesive on the mating face of the nut
NoteApply Structural Adhesive only on the mating face of the nut avoid contact with thread, refer to the Approved Chemicals section of Collision Repair Procedures.

Ensure there is no adhesive on the nut threads
NoteClean with alcohol wipe if needed, Allow to dry for 1 minute

Install the nut into the LH A-pillar reinforcement
NoteManeuver the wire with the nut into the A-pillar reinforcement until it is aligned with affected riv nut hole, use straight pick if needed to align, pay attention to contact the the mating face of the nut with A-pillar reinforcement

Install bolt into the repaired nut in LH A-pillar
Note1x bolt, 10mm, 7 Nm, carefully catch the thread of the nut and hand tighten bolt

Remove wire from the LH A-pillar reinforcement
NoteWiggle the wire to release it from the the nut

Allow adhesive to cure
NoteFollow product instructions for cure time

Remove bolt from the repaired nut in LH A-pillar
Note1x bolts, 10mm, 7 Nm

Clean the thread of the repaired nut in LH A-pillar
Note1x nut, clean the remaining adhesive from thread using M6 restoring tap

Torque bolts securing LH inner A-pillar to A-pillar reinforcement
Note2x bolts, 10mm, 1x bolt, 13mm, 10 Nm

Release LH front A-pillar grommet
Note1x grommet

Connect pvc hose to cartridge of the expandable foam
NoteConnect 50cm of the hose to the tip of expandable foam
-
Apply expandable foam into LH A-pillar reinforcement
NoteInsert pvc hose through the A-pillar grommet hole into the A-pillar reinforcement, guide the hose to the bottom of the reinforcement pillar and apply a small amount of expandable foam (approximately 15 clicks) to secure fallen riv nut
- Install LH front A-pillar grommet
- Remove seat cover and A-pillar trim cover from the vehicle
