Door Assembly - Front - LH (Remove and Replace)

Correction Code 10106002

Removal

  1. Open the LH front door.
  2. Open the LH 2nd row door.
  3. Raise the LH front window approximately 3/4 of the way up.
  4. Disconnect 12V power. See Disconnect 12V Power.
  5. Remove the lower A-pillar trim panel. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Fold back the footwell carpet, then disconnect the door harness from the main harness.
  7. Release the grommet from the A-pillar, then pull the door harness through the hole in the A-pillar.
  8. Remove the front door trim panel. See Panel - Door Trim - Front - LH (Remove and Install). Place the trim panel on a soft, flat surface.
  9. Remove the closeout panel (refer to procedure).
  10. Remove the airbag sensor from the door panel. Discard the airbag sensor.

    CAUTION
    The airbag sensor is a one-time use component. Install a new sensor onto the replacement door.
  11. Remove the nut that secures the ground strap to the door (torque 9 Nm).
  12. Disconnect the 2 harnesses.
  13. Remove the speaker (refer to procedure).
  14. Remove the front door control module (refer to procedure).
  15. Release the clips that secure the harness to the door frame.
  16. Remove the pinch sensor (refer to procedure).
  17. Remove the inner belt seal (refer to procedure).
  18. Remove the outer belt seal (refer to procedure).
  19. Remove the moving glass (refer to procedure).
  20. Remove the front fixed glass (refer to procedure).
  21. Remove the door mirror (refer to procedure).
  22. Remove the window regulator (refer to procedure).
  23. Remove the pop actuator (refer to procedure).
  24. Remove the door latch (refer to procedure).
  25. Release the clips that secure the harness to the door frame. Remove the harness from the door.
  26. Remove the door latch (refer to procedure).
  27. Remove the front door drive unit (refer to procedure).
  28. Remove the bolts (x4) that secure the door to the hinges (torque 24 Nm).
  29. Remove the door from the vehicle.

Installation

CAUTION
If using this procedure to install an unpainted part, make sure to apply seam sealer to all seams prior to installing and painting the part. Refer to the Collision Repair manual for more information.

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

Perform the following steps if a next generation door (model year 2021 and newer) is installed. Add correction codes, if needed:
  • 10106006 (LH)
  • 10106106 (RH)
  1. Drill holes (x2) at dimple locations shown using 9mm drill bit from the drill bit set (1126494-00-A), and then install rivnuts (M6x0.5-3).
  2. Drill hole at dimple location shown using 9mm drill bit from the drill bit set (1126494-00-A), and then install rivnut (M6x0.5-3).

    Note
    Use original ground bolt and clip onto the rear of the window regulator.
  3. Drill hole at dimple location shown using 6mm drill bit from the drill bit set (1126494-00-A) for the door drive unit.

    Hole is only required for older style door drive unit.
  4. Mark hole using the door panel retrofit template, and then drill hole using 6mm drill bit from the drill bit set (1126494-00-A) for the door drive unit.

  5. Drill holes (x2) at dimple locations shown using 6mm drill bit from the drill bit set (1126494-00-A) to support the closeout panel.
  6. Thread the closeout panel bolts (x2) (torque 4 Nm).
  7. Mark holes using the pinch sensor as a template, and then drill holes (x6) using 5mm drill bit from the drill bit set (1126494-00-A) to support the pinch sensor.

    Note
    Do not drill holes if no pinch sensor needs to be transferred from the old to the new door.
  8. Clean away all excess shavings or residue from the door.

    Check seams and cracks for extra shavings that might be present.
