Toe Link Assembly - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace)

Removal

  1. Verify there is no abnormal tire wear per Courtesy Inspection

  2. Open LH front door
  3. Lower LH front window
  4. Raise and support vehicle

    Set air suspension to Jack Mode, Via Controls > Service > Jack Mode, Raise lift until arms contact the lift points
  5. Remove LH rear lug nut covers

  6. Loosen LH rear lug nuts

    5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm
  7. Raise vehicle partially and lower onto locks

    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side
  8. Remove LH rear wheel

    5x nuts, 21mm, 175 Nm
  9. Raise vehicle fully and lower onto locks

    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side
  10. Remove LH shear plate

    2x push clips, 3x screws, T25, 6 Nm, 1x bolt, 10mm, 4 Nm, 1x nylon nut, 15mm, 35 Nm Discard nylon nut after removal
  11. Remove RH shear plate

    3x screws, T25, 6 Nm, 1x bolt, 10mm, 4 Nm, 2x push clips, 1x nylon nut, 15mm, 35 Nm Discard nylon nut after removal
  12. Remove mid aero shield

  13. Support LH of rear subframe with a pole jack

  14. Slightly loosen both LH rear subframe bolts 15mm

    2x bolts, 21mm, 140 Nm, 15mm of clearance between subframe bushings to body of vehicle
  15. Release LH rear parking brake harness from toe link

  16. Release wheel speed sensor grommet from LH rear knuckle

  17. Remove LH rear toe link from knuckle

    1x bolt, 1x nut, 18mm, 130 Nm, Discard nyloc nut, Counter hold with 18mm wrench
  18. Remove LH rear toe link nut from subframe

    1x nut, 19mm, 1x bolt, 18mm, 80 Nm, Discard nyloc nut, Counter hold with 18mm wrench
  19. Remove LH rear toe link bolt from subframe

    Rotate eccentric washer to the lower position to clear body, Check bolt for clearance, Lower pole jack to aid in clearing bolt from body, Reference images for clarity
  20. Remove LH rear toe link from vehicle

Installation

  1. Install LH rear toe link to vehicle
  2. Install LH rear toe link bolt to subframe

    1x bolt, 18mm, 80 Nm, Work the pole jack for clearance as you need
  3. Install LH rear toe link nut to subframe

    1x nut, 19mm, 1x bolt, 18mm, 80 Nm, Install new nyloc nut, Counter hold with 18mm wrench, Torque at later step
  4. Install nut and bolt securing LH rear toe link to knuckle

    1x bolt, 1x nut, 18 Nm, 130 Nm, Install new nut, Torque at later step
  5. Secure wheel speed sensor grommet onto LH rear knuckle

  6. Secure LH rear parking brake harness to toe link

  7. Raise LH of rear subframe

    Raise LH of rear subframe to original position using pole jack, Reference image for clarity
  8. Install both LH rear subframe bolts

    2x bolts, 21mm, 140 Nm, Torque bolts to spec
  9. Remove pole jack from under vehicle
  10. Apply Loctite 222 onto mid aero shield bolts and install mid aero shield

    20x bolts, 10mm, 4 Nm, 2x push clips
  11. Install RH shear plate

    3x screws, T25, 6 Nm, 1x bolt, 10mm, 4 Nm, 2x push clips, Install new nyloc nut, 15mm, 35 Nm
  12. Install LH shear plate

  13. Lower vehicle to comfortable working height

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered
  14. Install hub jack adapter onto LH rear hub

    Note
    5x lug nuts, 21mm, Hand tight, Use modified hydraulic hub tool if correct adapter is not available
  15. Position and raise support stand to simulate LH rear suspension at ride height
  16. Measure distance from upper fore link to bolt on frame rail to make sure LH suspension is set to ride height

    Distance should be 85mm +/- 5mm
  17. Torque LH toe link to subframe

    1x bolt, 18mm, 1x nut, 19mm, 80 Nm, Counter hold with 18mm wrench
  18. Torque bolt securing LH rear toe link to knuckle

    1x bolt, 1x flag nut, 18mm, 130 Nm, Mark with paint pen
  19. Remove support stand from underneath LH rear suspension

    Lower stand until suspension is unladen before removal
  20. Remove hub jack adapter from LH rear hub

    5x lug nuts, 21mm, Hand tight
  21. Install LH rear wheel

  22. Lower vehicle until tires are touching ground

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered
  23. Torque LH rear wheel

  24. Install LH rear lug nut covers

  25. Remove vehicle from lift

    Lower rack arms fully and move them from under vehicle, Remove air suspension from "Jack Mode", Via Controls > Service > Jack Mode
  26. Raise LH front window
  27. Close LH rear door
  28. Review wheel alignment requirements and add correction code as needed
