ABS Modulator Assembly (Remove and Replace)

Correction Code 33100102

Removal

  1. Position the vehicle on a lift but do not lift it at this time.
  2. Recover refrigerant from the vehicle (refer to procedure).
  3. Remove the HEPA filter duct (refer to procedure).
  4. Disconnect 12V power (refer to procedure).
  5. Move the coolant reservoir out of the working area:
    1. Make sure that the reservoir cap is fully attached.
    2. Release the 12V harness clip from the coolant reservoir.
    3. Disconnect the coolant fluid level sensor electrical connector.
    4. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the coolant reservoir to the front crossmember (torque 6 Nm).
    5. Clamp the coolant hose at the rear of the coolant reservoir.
    6. Release the locking ring that attaches the hose to the coolant reservoir. Release the coolant hose from the nipple on the reservoir.
    7. Plug the coolant hole then carefully move the reservoir to the LH side of the front trunk.
  6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the A/C compressor and the electrical connector from the high pressure pipe.
  7. Release the edge clip that attaches the 12V harness to the compressor bracket.
  8. Remove the screw that attaches the ground strap to the compressor bracket (torque 8 Nm).
  9. Release the nuts (x2) that attach the A/C lines to the compressor (torque 10 Nm).
  10. Have an assistant support the compressor. Release the bolts (x3) that attach the A/C compressor bracket to the front drive unit (torque 10 Nm).
  11. Release the push clip that attaches the A/C compressor HV cable to the body of the vehicle.
  12. Carefully move the A/C compressor to the RH side of the front trunk.
  13. Disconnect the ABS modulator electrical connector.

  14. Use a flare wrench to release the brake pipes (x6) from the ABS modulator (torque 23 Nm).

  15. Raise and support the vehicle (refer to procedure).
  16. Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the ABS modulator bracket to the body of the vehicle (torque 5 Nm).

  17. Lower the vehicle.
  18. Remove the ABS modulator and mounting bracket from the vehicle.
  19. Remove the nuts that attach the ABS modulator to the bracket (torque 8 Nm). Release the ABS modulator from the bracket.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

  1. Bleed the brakes. See Bleed or Flush Procedure - System (Remove and Replace).
  2. Recharge the A/C system. See A/C Refrigerant Recovery and Recharge (Remove and Replace).
  3. Reinstall the latest vehicle firmware, or update the firmware if not the latest. See Firmware Reinstall - Touchscreen or Firmware Update.
  4. Connect a laptop to the diagnostic port of the vehicle, and then use Toolbox 3 to locally connect to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  5. Unlock the vehicle gateway for diagnostic communication. See Gateway Unlock.
  6. Using Toolbox 3:
    1. Select the Actions tab and search for "ESP Configuration".
    2. Select the ODIN routine PROC_ESP_X_ESP-CONFIGvia Toolbox: (link)via Service Mode Plus: Chassis ➜ Brakes ➜ ESP Config, and then click the link of the routine.
    3. Click RUN, and allow the routine to complete.
