Seal - Primary - Rear Door - LH (Remove and Replace)

Removal

  1. Open all the doors and lower the front windows.
  2. Remove the LH upper rear door glass assembly. See Door Glass - Rear - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace)
  3. Release the LH primary rear side body seal from the body, and then remove the seal from the vehicle.

    Pull the seal inward to remove as much tape as possible from the body. Shift the seal up and over the LH rear door to fully remove it.

    Discard the seal as it cannot be reused.
  4. Remove residual adhesive from the body.

    Remove the majority of the residual adhesive with the an eraser wheel, and then wipe with IPA.

    Removal may be more difficult when exposed to heat.

    Allow 1 minute of dry time.

Installation

  1. Position the LH primary rear side body seal for installation.

    Position flange in seal between the primary hinges.
  2. Install the new rear door primary seal.
    1. Align the cut outs in the new primary seal with the upper hinges and side bumpers on the upper door.
    2. Set the inner seal tape on the LH primary rear side body seal first, and then seat the outer seal tape and sill tape

      The inner tape should follow the body seam about 1cm from the edge.

      Wet out the adhesive applying pressure along the entirety of the seal once it is set in desired position.
    3. Press firmly on the seal using a silicone seam roller to ensure that it is fully seated.

      CAUTION
      Take care not to damage component(s).
  3. Install the LH upper rear door glass assembly. See Door Glass - Rear - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace)
  4. Close all the doors windows.
