Seat Assembly - 2nd Row - Center (Remove and Install)

Correction Code 13050301

Removal

  1. Remove the LH 2nd row seat assembly (refer to procedure).
  2. Reconnect 12V power.
  3. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle.
  4. Unlock the gateway. See Gateway Unlock.
  5. To enable seat install mode, in Toolbox 3, click the Actions tab, type "Seat-Install" into the search field, click PROC_BCREAR_X_SEAT-INSTALL-MODE-ONSearch for routine in ToolboxSeat Install Mode On (Monopost Seats), click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
  6. Move the center 2nd row seat fully rearward.
  7. Move the RH 2nd row seat fully forward.
  8. Remove the LH and RH podium trim from the center 2nd row seat.
  9. Using a pick or similar tool, peel back the carpet from the front sliding panel to access the screws underneath.

    Note
    This carpet is a one time use component. Ensure that a new carpet is installed during reinstallation.
  10. Remove the screws that secure the front sliding panel to the seat tracks (torque 2.5 Nm).
  11. Release the sliding panel from the seat tracks.
  12. Move the center 2nd row seat fully forward.
  13. Remove the bolts that secure the rear of the seat tracks.
  14. Move the center 2nd row seat fully rearward.
  15. Remove and discard the bolts that secure the front of the seat tracks.

    CAUTION
    These bolts are one-time use.
  16. Disconnect the large gray connector from the harness block in front of the RH 2nd row seat.
  17. With assistance, carefully remove the center 2nd row seat from the vehicle.

    Care must be taken to avoid damage to paintwork and exterior trim.

Installation

  1. Remove the carpet from the front sliding panel, then remove any remaining adhesive residue from the front sliding panel.
  2. Vacuum debris from the floor area.
  3. Check the threads for damage:
    • Positions 1-4: If any threads are damaged, send the vehicle to a Tesla Approved Body Shop to have the nut plate(s) replaced.
    • Positions 5 & 6: If any holes are damaged, install a rivnut.
  4. Position the center 2nd row seat in the vehicle.
  5. Reconnect the seat harnesses.
  6. Move the center 2nd row seat fully forward.
  7. Loosely install the bolts for the rear of the seat.
  8. Move the center 2nd row seat fully rearward.
  9. Install new bolts for the front of the seat in the following order (torque 33 Nm):
  10. Move the center 2nd row seat fully forward.
  11. Fully torque the bolts for the rear of the seat in the following order.
    • Bolts 1-4: 33 Nm
    • Bolts 5 & 6: 22 Nm
  12. Move the center 2nd row seat fully rearward.
  13. Install a new carpet at the base of the seat.
  14. Reinstall the LH and RH podium trim on the center 2nd row seat.
  15. Disconnect 12V power (refer to procedure).

    Wait at least 2 minutes before continuing to allow the airbag circuits to fully discharge.
  16. Reinstall the LH 2nd row seat (refer to procedure).
  17. Reinstall all components that were removed for access.
  18. Reconnect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle.
  19. To disable seat install mode, in Toolbox 3, click the Actions tab, type "Seat-Install" into the search field, click PROC_BCREAR_X_SEAT-INSTALL-MODE-OFFSearch for routine in ToolboxSeat Install Mode Off (Monopost Seats), click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
  20. Disconnect Toolbox and remove the laptop from the vehicle.
