Cross Car Beam (Remove and Replace)

Correction Code 14052202

Removal

  1. Fully open both front doors.
  2. Move both front seats to their rearmost positions.
  3. Adjust the steering column:
    • Lower the steering column to its lowest position.
    • Fully extend the steering column.
  4. Open the glove box.
  5. Remove the underhood storage unit (refer to procedure).
  6. Remove the defrost mesh grille assembly (refer to procedure).
  7. Remove the center console assembly (refer to procedure).
  8. Release the outlet ducts from the front HVAC assembly.

  9. Remove the 2nd row passenger ducts.

  10. Remove the instrument cluster (refer to procedure).
  11. Remove the MCU (refer to procedure).
  12. Remove the passenger's knee air bag (refer to procedure).
  13. Remove the steering column (refer to procedure).
  14. Remove the screws (x18) that secure the IP carrier to the dash frame (torque 2 Nm).
  15. Disconnect the electrical connector from the dash tweeter.
  16. Lift the IP carrier up, then release the clip that holds the dash tweeter electrical harness to the IP carrier.
  17. Remove the IP carrier from the vehicle.
  18. Fold back the carpet on the passenger's side footwell.
  19. Remove the passenger false floor from the vehicle.
  20. Disconnect the electrical connectors (x2) from the Driver's Assistance module.
  21. Remove the screws (x4) that secure the Autopilot ECU module (torque 3.5 Nm).
  22. Remove the Autopilot ECU module from the vehicle.
  23. Remove the fasteners that secure the cross car beam to the body of the vehicle (torque 27 Nm).
  24. Disconnect all electrical connectors, including those that are connected to the PSRCM, cabin fuse boxes, and body control module (BCM).
  25. Remove the cross car beam from the vehicle.

    Note
    The pin guide on the Cross Car Beam may get stuck in the A-pillar. Gently move the cross car beam until the guide is centered correctly.

    Note
    The cross car beam is removed with the electrical harness attached.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

  1. Record the routing of the instrument panel harness and the positions of the edge clips on the old cross car beam.
  2. Transfer the instrument panel harness to the new cross car beam. Ensure that all edge clips are in the original locations.
