Trim - Liftgate Trough - Upper (Remove and Replace)

Correction Code 12272002

Removal

  1. Open the liftgate.
  2. Open the LH and RH rear doors.
  3. Move the 2nd row seats fully forward.
  4. Remove the LH and RH upper C-Pillar trim panels (refer to procedure).
  5. Use a trim tool to release the rear lower portion of the headliner.

    CAUTION
    Take care not to damage component(s).
  6. Remove the LH parcel shelf support (refer to procedure).
  7. Disconnect the electrical connectors (x6) that connect the liftgate harness to the main body harness.
  8. Disconnect the electrical connector from the LH strut.
  9. Remove the fasteners (x2) that secure the LH C-Pillar support bracket (torque 2.5 Nm).
  10. Release the liftgate harness from the body and maneuver it past the C-Pillar support bracket.
  11. Remove the nut that secures the liftgate harness ground strap to the stud on the body (torque 9 Nm).
  12. Release the grommet on the liftgate and pull the power strut harness and electrical connector out through the body cavity.
  13. Carefully release the upper portion of the liftgate seal.

  14. Use a trim tool to release the upper liftgate trough trim from the body.

  15. Remove the upper liftgate trough trim from the vehicle.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

Note
Clean the affected areas before installation.
  1. Clean any remaining adhesive residue from the body.
  2. Ensure that the liftgate trough trim is fully seated.
  3. If necessary, apply P-80 emulsion to the grommet before routing the power strut harness through the body cavity.
  4. Ensure that the liftgate opens and closes properly prior to installing the components that were removed for access.
