HV Harness - FJB to Front Drive Unit - 1st Generation (Remove and Replace)

Only technicians who have been trained in High Voltage (HV) Awareness and have completed all required certification courses (if applicable) are permitted to perform this procedure. Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and insulating HV gloves with a minimum rating of class 0 (1000V) must be worn any time a high voltage cable is handled. Refer to Tech Note TN-15-92-003, "High Voltage Awareness Care Points" for additional safety information.

Removal

  1. Place the vehicle on a lift, but do not raise the vehicle at this time.
  2. Activate "Jack Mode." See Jack Mode Activation .
  3. Perform the vehicle electrical isolation procedure. See Vehicle HV Disablement Procedure .
  4. Remove the wiper motor assembly:
  5. Release the clip that secures the wiring harness to the wiper mount bracket.
  6. Remove the bolts that secure the wiper mount bracket to the crossbeam (torque 20 NM).
  7. Remove the nuts that secure the wiper mount bracket to the studs on the bulkhead (torque 20 NM).
  8. Release the push clips that secure the fuse box harness.
  9. Remove the fasteners that secure the air suspension reservoir (torque 6 NM), and then move the air suspension reservoir to the RH side of the underhood area.
  10. Remove the fasteners that secure the HV harness to the front junction box (torque 7 NM).
  11. Remove the front LH wheel arch liner. See Wheel Arch Liner - Front - LH (Remove and Replace) .
  12. Remove the nut that secures the ride height sensor lever to the upper control arm (torque 7 NM).
  13. Disconnect the electrical connector from power train pump 2.
  14. Slide the pump upward and off the bracket.
  15. Remove the bolt that secures the pump bracket to the support bracket (torque 5 NM).
  16. Remove the pump bracket from the support bracket.
  17. Release the harness clip on the upper inner side of the support bracket.
  18. Remove the bolts that secure the support bracket to the body (torque 10 NM).
  19. Remove the support bracket from the vehicle.
  20. Cut the cable ties that secure the HV harness to the body.
  21. Remove the fasteners that secure the HV harness to the front drive unit (torque 7 NM).
  22. Remove the fastener that secures the bracket to the HV battery coolant heater (torque 7 NM).
  23. Remove the harness from the vehicle.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

Install new cable ties to secure the HV harness to the body.
