Electromechanical Brake Booster Assembly (RHD) (Remove and Replace)
Correction Code 33201102
Warning
If the 12V power
supply is disconnected, do not attempt to open any doors with door glass in
closed position. Failure to follow this instruction could result in door glass
shatter.
Note
Before
disconnecting the 12V power supply, ensure that the driver’s door window is
fully open. Failure to follow this instruction could result in vehicle
lockout.
CAUTION
Use extreme caution
when handling the electromechanical brake booster assembly.
Removal
- Recover the refrigerant from the vehicle, (refer to procedure).
- Remove the wiper motor assembly, (refer to procedure).
- Remove the center support bracket.
- Remove the driver's side lower dash trim, (refer to procedure).
- Remove the driver's side center console closeout extension, (refer to procedure).
- Remove and discard the brake light switch, (refer to procedure).
-
Remove the spring clip from the
clevis pin.
- Depress the brake pedal for clearance and remove the clevis pin.
- Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the air suspension reservoir to the vehicle (torque 6 Nm) and move the reservoir out of the working area.
-
Remove the bolts (x2) that attach
the TXV valve to the bulkhead (torque 6 Nm) and disconnect the electrical
connetor.
- Carefully pull the TXV valve assembly with the charge port high and low pressure pipes away from the bulkhead.
-
Remove the A/C line assembly that
blocks the electromechanical brake booster assembly.
-
Release the fittings that attach
the front and rear hydraulic lines to the master cylinder (torque 18 Nm).
CAUTIONIf brake fluid is spilled on a painted surface, wash off immediately with clean water.
- Disconnect the logic connector from the electromechanical brake booster.
-
Remove the nuts (x4) that attach
the electromechanical brake booster to the bulkhead (torque 23 Nm).
- Remove the electromechanical brake booster assembly from the vehicle.
Installation
Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:
CAUTION
Ensure that 12V
power is disconnected before installing the brake booster assembly.
CAUTION
Use extreme caution
when handling the brake booster assembly.
- Before connecting 12V power, fill the electromechanical brake booster reservoir with brake fluid.
- After connecting 12V power, perform a firmware reinstall. See Firmware Reinstall - Touchscreen.
- Recharge the refrigerant, (refer to procedure).
- Bleed the brakes, (refer to procedure).
- in Toolbox 3, click the Actions tab, type "IBST-PEDAL" into the search field, click PROC_IBST_X_IBST-PEDALSearch for routine in ToolboxiBooster Initialization, click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
- In Toolbox 3, click , and then select SDM or RCM depending on the vehicle Restraint Control Type.
- Click Read DTCs to display the DTCs.
- If one or more critical DTCs are set, contact Service Engineering. Otherwise, continue to the next step.
- Click Clear DTCs to clear the DTCs.
- Disconnect the laptop with Toolbox 3 from the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
- Sit in the driver's seat and pump the brake pedal several times. Check for a short, firm pedal travel when the brakes are applied.
- Calibrate the falcon doors from the touch screen.
- Perform a short road test using a series of brake stops, including at least one full ABS stop. Ensure that there is proper brake pedal feel and performance. If brake pedal feel is not firm, repeat the bleed procedure.
