Trim - Rear Trunk - Side - LH (Remove and Replace)

Correction Code 15245002

  • 2023-08-31: Noted for 2nd generation that the 3rd row seatback may be moved up and down as needed in order to access the trunk side panels/brackets.

Choose the appropriate procedure based on the vehicle's date of manufacture:

1st Generation

Removal

  1. Remove the trunk floor carpet (refer to procedure).
  2. Remove the mid C-pillar trim panel (refer to procedure).
  3. Remove the 3rd row seat assembly (refer to procedure).
  4. Hold the plastic trim panel in the location shown; pull the panel inboard to release the 3 trim clips, but do not fully remove the panel at this time.

    CAUTION
    Do not damage the low voltage harness connection on the inside of the trim panel.

    CAUTION
    Do not pull on the carpet portion of the panel. The plastic and carpet are removed together as an assembly.
  5. Disconnect the low voltage harness connector.

    Note
    When performing this procedure on the RH side of the vehicle, disconnect the harness to the puddle lamp.
  6. While pulling up on the hook in the rear of the carpet, remove the trunk side trim panel from the vehicle.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal.

2nd Generation

Note
The 3rd row seatback may be folded up and down as needed in order to access the trunk side brackets and trim panels.
  1. Remove the C-pillar lower trim (refer to procedure).
  2. Remove the rear trunk rear wall trim (refer to procedure).
  3. Use a trim tool to remove the rear load floor support from the trunk side trim.
  4. Use a trim tool to remove the air vent from the trunk side trim.

    Note
    Removing the air vent makes it easier to remove the trunk side trim in the next step.
  5. Release the clips that secure the trunk side trim to the body.
  6. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the 12V outlet and puddle lamp.
  7. Disconnect the emergency release cable from the trunk side trim.

    CAUTION
    Handle the emergency release cable carefully to avoid breaking the retaining clip.
  8. Remove the trunk side trim from the vehicle.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:
  • Transfer the 12V power outlet, puddle lamp, and air vent to the new trunk side trim.
